I had 22 baby teeth extracted. The oral surgeon was like, my best friend. Most I did was 8 at one time. Cray! I had braces, headgear, retainer, etc. my lowers are also all crooked now. And my top ones are setting to shift! Annoying! Gaps between your teeth should not contribute to bone loss. You may see gaps between your teeth appear if you are having bone loss, but it does not cause bone loss! Normal spacing is just that, normal. Unless your teeth are mobile or you've been diagnosed with periodontal disease I would ask more questions to your dental provider. I wasn't very good about going to the dentist for the longest time, now I'm paying for it. I had braces when I was 11 till 15? Teeth; the little bastards. I have only lost 5 teeth naturally. Yup, I had to have the rest pulled. I also had oral surgery to remove baby teeth and adult teeth as they saw I would have too many teeth for my mouth size. Root canals. Wisdom teeth removal. Palate expander. Braces. Retainers. The kicker is my bottom teeth are still not straight, and it’s really starting to bug me so I’ll have to deal with that soon. On the topic of savings for LO’s college, I really need to get on a chompers-fund for my LO ‘cause I’m pretty sure she’s screwed. I had a root canal when I was 11, braces, had my wisdom teeth taken out when I was 16, and then the (front!) tooth with the root canal had to have a crown put on last year, which was the least fun of all. It's all costly but it's your teeth! You have to take care of them - poor oral hygiene/health has been linked to poor outcomes in other areas of health. Try not to be nervous and definitely don't put it off. I kept putting off getting the crown on my front tooth and the sooner I did it, the sooner it could heal. None of them required any major recovery time except the wisdom teeth (I had all 4 removed). Sure, I have two somewhat large gaps on my front lower row of teeth, but it never affected my smile. Now I'm finding out that gaps could contribute to bone loss, and I believe I'm seeing the signs. I'll probably need braces, maybe a tooth implant, etc., and it's going to be so scary and costly to me! I just really hope I didn't give LO my bad teeth genes. Anyway, just looking to see if anyone else had to go through any major dental procedures, how much it cost, and recovery, and if there were any regrets? I want to feel less depressed about my teeth!
