I had horrible stomach cramping, but no vomiting.<br /> And this past New Years Eve, I had similar symptoms at 34 weeks pregnant and went into L&amp;D to get some IV fluids and fetal monitoring. I make my own sushi a lot and I'm not sure if there's some trick to make sure the fish is fresh enough (I buy sushi grade fish). This weekend DH and I had it for dinner on Sat and there was so much left over that I actually ate some for lunch again on Sunday. While I was eating I was thinking that I was rolling the dice because I've always heard that you have to eat it right away or it goes bad! About an hour out of NC, I started feeling bad. I stopped at a gas station and used their facilities. I kept driving and ended up having to stop on the side of the road to go and to throw up. It was awful. I visited bathrooms dirtier than the "filthiest toilet in Scotland." &lt;-- two points for reference.</p> <p>I finally stopped at a cruddy motel along the way and when I walked into the lobby, it smelled like Indian food. That made me run out again. I had no other choice, I needed a safe place to lay down for a while with toilet access. I booked a room, called my friend and my parents from the room and told my friend I wasn't going to make it, told my parents I might need their help.</p> <p>My Mom and Dad drove down to get me that next morning. I had made it only 2 hours south. It seemed like I had been driving forever! Dad drove my car home and I was spent for the next 4 days of my vacation. Hopefully you have been able to go back. </p> <p>Rob Sr. and I have had food poisoning WAY too many times. It has sent us both to the hospital at least twice. Once when I was in college, I woke up in the morning to find I couldn't even move my legs. It was so scary. I could barely get up the strength to reach for my phone and call my dad, who thankfully worked in the area at the time, and he called campus security who called the paramedics. They actually had to come into my room and put me on a stretcher because I literally couldn't walk. Once I got to the ER and they put an IV into me, I started throwing up and didn't stop all day. My poor dad rushed to get there and was beside himself all day long. After I got some anti-nausea medication and fluids in me, he took me home and I stayed in bed for 3 days. That was seriously frightening because I literally couldn't move most of my body for a few hours.</p> <p>Another bad instance was when I was pregnant with RJ. We were at an awesome Thai restaurant and I think I ate some crab salad that might have been questionable. Of course it was because I was pregnant and more susceptible (because everyone else eating it was fine) but I spent the entire rest of the evening in the restaurant bathroom, sweating and crying. The worst part? They probably thought I was bulimic! I couldn't eat any of the delicious food that night alas (but they still charged us for the meal).</p> <p>That is the one and only time I had food poisoning.
