Yeah, I've had it about 3 times, starting when my cycles kicked in around 10 months pp. I got clogged ducts, then the fever and chills and it took about 2 days to feel human again. I never needed antibiotics, it cleared up on it's own with lots of warm compresses, nursing, antiinflammatories, rest, and misery.

:goodluck: hang in there, it really sucks

@Corduroy: @MrsStormy: Thanks guys! I'm all for not overdoing antibiotics, but I still kind of feel like it might have been mastitis caught early. I've spent most of the day nursing/pumping/heating pad/massaging it in the shower, and it seems like I got at least part of the clog, but still just feeling off. I think if I'm still feeling crappy tomorrow, I'll try and head in again for a second opinion.

Yeah my redness came after all of the other symptoms as well. I did however feel pain and a lump with the flu like symptoms. Actually by the time redness showed up it was pretty bad already...

Ugh, sorry you're feeling sick. I had redness develop after I got the other symptoms. I got all the flu-like symptoms, wondered what was wrong with me and later found the redness. I never felt a clog with that one.

I went to the doctor yesterday. I developed a clog that I can't clear. Yesterday morning I woke up with fever, chills, body aches, nausea, headache, dizziness, diarrhea and the breast was so sore I couldn't move my left arm without wanting to cry.

So I went in to the walk in clinic, and was told that because I've been breastfeeding for 10.5 months with no previous problems, and she couldn't see exterior redness she doesn't think it's mastitis and to just keep trying to clear the clog and rest. It's likely a regular bug that just happens to coincide with a clogged duct.

This seems like too much of a coincidence to me, so as the title says, I'm wondering if anybody's ever had mastitis that didn't show on the outside?
