I was in kindergarten or 1st grade and I remember being positively miserable. I had a really bad case, all over my body and in my mouth. I ended up getting the vaccine when it first came out, but that was forever ago. I think I've been exposed to it once or twice since then, but not completely sure. When I was about 18 months old my parents allowed me to be a test patient for a developing chicken pox vaccine. Those were the days when neighbours would have chickenpox parties so that everyone got it at once. My sister, neighbour friend and I all had it at the same time and our moms alternated days off work taking care of us together. </p>
