@mrs. wagon: Oh! So interesting!!! thank you, finally someone who doesn't think I'm nuts! haha. yes tiny pebbles for me too sometimes. I've been really sick with a chest cough for about a month so maybe it's something to do with that. My neck has started to be a bit sore lately... I will try the wash cloth! Thank you!

@loki: I HEAR THIS ALL THE TIME. Oh my gosh. I have asked so many people and no one knows what the heck I'm talking about. For me, it happens out of nowhere and it sounds like tiny little pebbles going down a tube, right at the back of my neck.

I constantly forget to ask my doctor about it. However, I did have some pain lately and the sensation of blocked ears, and she said that my eustachian tubes were getting pinched shut because my tonsils were a little swollen. She suggested putting a hot washcloth right under my ears, kind of along the jawline there, to open it up and let the fluid drain. When I did that, I had a little relief and thought maybe it's related to that sound.

I wasn't sure how to word this...
but in the last couple of months I have had this very distinct sound sometimes... it literally sounds like water trickling or draining from my skull down my spine. sometimes it just sounds like fluid and sometimes it's more of a fizzing/pop rocks type sound. it only lasts a couple of seconds and always weirds me out.
i asked the ladies in my due date board but no one seems to be able to relate. after doing some googling, i've seen that other people have experienced it but with no real answers.

do you get this? do you know what it is? wtfffff??? haha.
