@hergreenapples: Yeah, I think I'll mention the pain at my pp appointment, and maybe if I can get an x-ray on it, I can get some sort of plan for it. I won't run right to the chiropractor, until I talk to the Dr that was at the delivery.

My good friend fractured hers giving birth to her son a few years ago. From my recollection it was quite sore for several months afterwards. She definitely recommended the donut for sitting.

If it is indeed fractured, I would be VERY wary of seeing a chiropractor/having any spinal manipulation done until I was certain the fracture had healed.

I almost broke mine snowboarding-I had to sit on a donut pillow for a couple months :(

Eta my chiropractor says tailbones often get messed up during labor, so I think it's definitely worth seeing one!

@katiew92081: I had a bad fall while roller blading in 2009. I was out of control on a hill and ended up sitting to stop (smart, I know...) Doctors x-rayed my tailbone and included it was badly bruised. It still hurts if I have to sit for long periods of time. I'm slightly terrified to reinjure during labour!!

I injured mine, along with moving my floating ribs, during a fall at a figure skating competition. I had good luck with a chiropractor to reset everything back in place, but it took some time to heal and the bruising to go away.

@katiew92081: I had good luck with a. Chiropractor for a shoulder injury in high school and have thought about going for my tailbone and just haven't made time but maybe something to consider if you don't feel better soon!

@rachiecakes: Ugh, that sounds awful! Mine doesn't feel that bad, thankfully. I was on Tylenol 3's out of the hospital, but they're long gone.

Few years ago I fractured mine falling down 14 stairs on my butt. Worst injury ever, can't sit, can't stand. I could only get comfortable laying face down on my couch.
I got a prescription for Vicodin for the pain and it did make it manageable. I never take painkillers but this time it was necessary.

I fractured mine when I broke my back in 2008 and it still hurts :/ sorry that's probably not why you want to read! I don't think any further damage was done during delivery but it probably didn't help. I just try to sit to one sit or with one or bothers tucked under me. I find alive to be the best pain reliever. Hope you feel better soon!

@dagret: My SIL said the same thing. I'm pretty much ok without the donut, except for the car, or if I go somewhere, cause at home I can lounge on my couch and be comfortable. The idea of carrying around my own little donut to other places sounds so weird to me. But, if I'm still whining in a week, maybe I'll break down and get one.

Ugh, yes, I hurt my tailbone when I slipped on ice when L was about 4 weeks old. It hurt really badly for another 4 weeks, and still aches now (6 weeks later) if I sit for too long. Maybe you could get a donut to sit on?

I'm sorry it still hurts!

During my labor, there was an issue getting her shoulders out, so I ended up with either a bruised or fractured tailbone. I'm leaning towards fractured.

It's been nearly 3 weeks, and sitting is still awful. I'm still leaning one way or another, and even though I'm ok to drive, going too long really bothers me. I'm better as a passenger, so that I can lean.

Have any of you injured your tailbone? How long was your recovery? This is the last part of my body that still hurts, so I'm ready for it to stop hurting any day now. Anything you recommend to help relieve it? I'm on 800 mg of Ibuprofen twice a day.
