It's annoying to have to do this, but cheaper than a locksmith!!! The keypad is so convenient that I'm willing to live with the annual battery change. I once trapped/essentially locked myself in our backyard! A neighbor had to come help me escape.</p> <p>I know, it sounds impossible. We were having a terrible winter, and it was one of those mornings where everything outside was literally coated in a sheet of ice due to freezing rain that turned to ice overnight. I was letting the dog outside, and he was being his usual self going crazy barking and refusing to come inside. I went outside to get him, and couldn't get back in the house. We had a backdoor where you had to push in on the handle to swing it open, and there was a thick layer of ice over it. I tried to crack the ice, didn't work. I went to walk around to the front of the house, but ice had frozen the gate shut. I tried to climb the fence, but I couldn't get any traction because it was chain link and just coated in ice. Plus this whole time I'm in my pajamas still and it's freezing outside. Eventually I screamed for help and the man next door came over. After struggling for awhile, he eventually had to use a sledgehammer to bust up a bunch of ice and open the fence for me. However, I did lock both of my car keys in my car. They needed new batteries so I was going to replace them when I got to work. When I dropped DS off at daycare I put my keys next to his seat so I could get him out. Then ended up locking the doors. We went outside to carve pumpkins and closed the doors forgetting to bring the keys! We had abloy locks so the locksmith had to saw the doorknob off. I was running around the house getting my luggage packed and I dropped the dogs off at the kennel. When I got home, I put the keys on the dining room table and not in my purse. So when I was finishing packing and transferring everything I need from my purse into my carry-on backpack, I didn't see my keys in my purse, so it didn't get packed. I started locking everything up and the taxi pulled up and closed the door shut. That's when I realized I didn't have my keys. </p> <p>DH was already on the east coast and he never brings his keys and I always tell him he should. Luckily, we were able to get into the house because DH hid a key. </p> <p>So funny part is when I got to Philly, my BIL picked me up from the airport. My sister called him as we were headed back to their house, she locked her keys in the house, too. I quickly called my other sister and told her not to lock her keys in the house like we did. </p> <p>When was the last time you locked the keys in your house? </p>
