Oh yes...mine is 5, now, and I've had tons of guilty moments this pregnancy with him, cause any trace of patience has gone out the window.

But, even before that, yeah, it can be easy to do at times. Luckily, they forgive easily and still love us!

My older daughter is 3.5 years old and yesterday she told me that she likes her dad best because he is never angry with her. Sooo...yep. Not my finest parenting moments...

It happens! There have been a few times where I've had to put DS in his crib so I could walk away and calm down.

A handful of times. Once recently she kept asking to go in her highchair and then she kept trying to stand up in it, and I finally lost it and said 'BEATRIX SIT DOWN DAMMIT'. And she laughed! Totally laughed at me. Which worked, I just threw up my hands and said ok, well, that obviously didn't work on any level.

You are not alone! We went through a phase where LO was waking every hour through the night. DH works so I had all the night wakings alone. The baby was miserable and cranky. There was more then one occasion where I had to put her in her crib to cry so i could go cry in my room. I felt like a loon but I just needed to walk away.

Oh I have.., there was one time it was a particularly long week, DH was working extra and being a SAHM and being with a baby dawn to dusk and handling night wakings... I was exhausted and resentful and one morning I had DS crying at my feet while I was trying to make breakfast and I don't remember what he did but I snapped, I put him in his crib and had to just be by myself and cry for a bit. I felt bed, DS was crying in his crib, but looking back I did what I could. He was safe and I was having a melt down. It didnt take long for me to want to "rescue" him, and he was perfectly fine. DH came home early that day.

It happens. And it will only become more frequent as he gets older.. But don't beat yourself up over it

Not alone! Just last week I was standing alone in my garage screaming. I needed to have a moment.

@FutureMrsMcK: I haven't yet, but A is younger than E so there is still time. PLEASE don't think you are a bad mom, it's so natural to want to shout or cry at your LO when they are crying none stop. I'm so incredibly lucky that DH is home all day at the moment and can share the crying tasks with me. You sound like an incredibly caring, patient mom to me, who is totally human with a breaking point just like everyone else. Tomorrow is another day : )

Thanks everyone. He was awake for nearly 6 hrs this afternoon/evening. He screamed hysterically in his crib, out of his crib, and just a tiny bit less when I held him. When I tried to nurse him to calm him down he'd pull and tug almost frantically, pull off and scream every few seconds.

When DH walked in we were both crying. He's asleep now, with not too much drama, thank god. I'm going to go have a big glass of wine in a hot bath and hope he stays asleep.

Oh, Mama, you're so not alone. I've had plenty of those kind of days in the last 6 months too.

I once had to put in down in the crib and walk away, and I slammed his nursery door so hard, it gave him such a fright that he stopped crying for a few seconds. I felt so bad :(

Hugsssssss.

You are most definitely not alone. I once screamed at him to stop crying from across the kitchen. I screamed at the top of my lungs and it startled him so much he actually stopped for a second. I felt like the absolute worst mom in the world and immediately went over and hugged him and cried and apologized. And hated myself for a good 24 hours!!!

He was totally fine. Untraumatized. Didn't even realize what was going on (he was probably about 1 year old at this point). It did teach me to sometimes just give him what he wants. sometimes it's not worth the "fight".

You are not alone. Hugs.

Yes dd had terrible colic for the first month and I did tell her to shut up and go to sleep, dh walked in and relieved me. I now know my breaking point and I call for reinforcements so I don't go there again. I will admit I have my moments

We've had some really rough nights at our house as LO generally doesn't sleep well, ever...
I've had certain nights where I just can't take it anymore and I've literally picked LO up fairly forcefully and then somehow gained my composure enough to sternly set him down and walk away. I would never, ever hurt him....but under stress and completely sleep deprived, I can certainly come close to understanding how some people shake their babies.

You are not alone! DS had a couple rough months of sleep between 8-10 months. There were many times at night I just had to put him in his crib and walk out of the room. My patience was gone. Hopefully tomorrow will be better! Hang in there!

I feel like such a shitty mom. I was/am so close to losing it and yelling at DS to shut up today. I've had to put him in his jumper or crib more than once so I could walk away and get a hold of myself. Even now I'm listening to him cry in the crib and gritting my teeth against screaming (at something, into something, doesn't matter). Please tell me I'm not alone.
