I made it with bacon fat and olive oil and it is amazing

Mayo+ketchup is "fry sauce" to me! Everyone ate it in Georgia and now everyone thinks I'm a weirdo here

Yes growing up I helped make a mayo like spread for our banh mi sandwiches. I wish I had the exact recipe but my aunt never really measures ingredients out, she just estimates and it tastes amazing.

@mrbee: I don't get why you didn't double gasp! at no sugar. Come on now...priorities.

I have not, mainly because I seriously don't want to know what goes in there.
My grandma always did. To be honest, it tasted the same to me. Hers was slightly better because she made garlic mayo. So, hey, garlic makes everything better in my book.

@Kimberlybee: I love mayo ketchup. That is THE condiment of Puerto Rico, where I first discovered the lovely combo that is mayo and ketchup. They even have mayo ketchup potato chips there!

@mrsjazz: @mrbee: Our family likes to mix ketchup and mayo together and we use that as a dip for crawfish. The crawfish is spicy so no Tabasco needed, super yummy.

@mrbee: Mayo on veggies as a snack?!?!?! I have never heard of such a thing before!

I've had homemade but I like good old Hellmann's. I don't eat mayo often so I don't mind having a little of the stuff every now and again. I'll be doing a 21-day sugar detox soon and only homemade mayo is allowed, I'm just going to skip mayo altogether.

I'm also doing Whole 30 right now and made my own mayo a few days ago. It was super easy and tastes really good. I put 1 egg, the juice from half a lemon, sprinkle of salt and 1/4 cup olive oil into the Vitamix. While that was blending, I slowly added 3/4 cup of olive oil. I read the slower you add the olive oil, the thicker the mayo will be. I want to try making Whole 30 friendly ketchup and BBQ sauce next!

Yep, it's pretty easy and super yummy if you've got a good recipe.

The first time I ever made it was for an experiment in one of my graduate-level engineering courses...it wasn't very tasty though because we were experimenting with different ingredients to change the properties...

Bee and I have been doing Whole30 lately, where we cut down on sugar, grains (gasp!), alcohol (double gasp!) and additives/preservatives 30 days. We're 20% done, and it's been a good experience! Bee has a lot more energy (mine is about the same) and we've both lost a surprising amount of weight.

There are no daily calorie limits, as long as you eat foods that aren't in the list of foods to avoid. I really miss having mayo on veggies for an evening snack though! Hellman's has a lot of additives, so if I want to eat mayo during this month then I need to make some by hand.

It's supposedly really easy to make and online comments rave that it's crazy delicious. I've been eying this recipe, and plan to make it soon:
