It was about 2 weeks late when the finance company called me. We got it straightened out, and they dropped all the late fees. Apparently I had auto renew every two years on a magazine linked to that card. I found out about it in the middle of our house hunt. One day I had a credit score of 780, the next week 625. For a $15 magazine subscription. Sucked so much because I had been working so long to have good credit to buy a house. One was a fee for breaking an internet contract when I moved despite the fact they told me if I moved to an area they couldn't service I wouldn't be charged. All have been medical billing errors. They took months to resolve, but I stood my ground each time since it wasn't our fault. DH's former PCP charged us $30 on a no show. We were running late, stuck in traffic and called them numerous times to let them know. We were literally 10 minutes late and called while in the parking lot to tell them we were on our way up. They told us to not bother coming up because they were already running behind on appointments and the dr could not stay late. This was for a back problem that DH had for over a week and was in good amount of pain and they could not get him in until two weeks later. The most annoying part is it was because his dr refused to write him a referral to a chiropractor without seeing him. DH bought a small $3 part at a plumbing store and the secretary said she'd just add it to our bill since we had just had them come out the week before for a blocked pipe/sewer overflow and she still needed to send us that bill. Well of course she forgot and I got the first big bill and paid it (not knowing about the part) and then she sent the $3 bill a couple days later. Seriously? I'm not mailing you a check or making a trip into the store for $3 so it can wait until there's something else to add it to. @gingerbebe: I'd add onto that being true for any small business or family run business. My husband and his Dad have a company together that's just the 2 of them. The bill was dated for 18 months after I sold it. I finally got a notice from a law firm. Haven't dealt with it yet. I have tons of time to sit arguing on the phone with people in another country. DH still has a medical bill on his insurance that rightly was to be paid by insurance and was not... he hasn't gotten anywhere with it... @mrsrain: wow, 10 years later, that's crazy! @birdofafeather: insurance is obnoxious! I hope it works out! @HLK208: that's odd, hopefully they weren't out to get you. :) @Mrs.KMM: that's strange! Glad it was over with quickly enough. So yeah, I think I need attorney insurance for DH or to become licensed myself! I've helped him on so many cases, poor guy has some terrible luck. But I guess I incorrectly entered the routing number and never noticed and they didn't alert me until it was more than 30 days past due. That was annoying. As the wife of an attorney with his own practice, please pay your bill! There have been times a client payment got held back for whatever reason and it was always a scramble to make sure the bills on our end got paid while we waited. Plus, a lot of times you have to wait for those checks to clear over a few business days with your bank so it's not an immediate thing. Other than that, my car insurance billed me for a month of insurance that they shouldn't have because I cancelled the policy, but they didn't back date the cancellation like they should have. The worst is I didn't get the bill (because I had moved), no one called me....so it went to collections and they never called me either!! I still haven't paid but I should probably do that appeal Soon before they send us to collections! I had to go to one of those lab places to take a drug test for a new job. I took the drug test then relocated for the new position. I assumed I wouldn't have to pay for the drug test so I never expected a bill (or got one). But apparently they charged me my $25 insurance co-pay. The collections notice came to my new address (why the lab center couldn't mail me something there, who knows) and I immediately paid it. Thankfully they said that it was early enough and dealt with quickly enough that my credit wouldn't take a hit. We will pay it if we have to but we are trying to see if insurance will give us a break. I have a HUGE bill from an attorney I worked with this year to defend DH who was the subject of a massive criminal conspiracy. Yeah. It is way crazier than it even sounds! We won in court and I am grateful, but we'll get nothing out of the other party, although it was court ordered. Ugh! I just need to complain. :(
