They mention later in the article that some policy makers are trying to find a way to balance something like the concierge medicine with low-cost insurance to balance out any necessary hospitalizations. I have to admit, though I understand and appreciate the value of face to face visits, the idea of conversing with our pediatrician one on one and sending a picture of a rash, for example via text is incredibly appealing. The amount of time I've spent leaving phone messages for the nurse and playing phone tag just to ask a simple question let alone actually make an appointment is absurd! The reason they have the business model that they do is to expand their clientele. It's not charitable do-good-ness. They admit upfront that they are seeking to become part of the 1%.
