Haha, so quick update...

D uses my Amazon log-in on his computer, and I came home today to find he had placed some orders today for birthday presents for me (which will be late, but whatever ;) )

And one of the things was the coffee maker I'd been eyeing!!!

Darth, you were good to us, but you're old and will soon be out the door!

I haven't ever done this intentionally but one summer I was borrowing my grandmother's car and they were going to sell it at the end of the summer since she couldn't drive anymore. I got into a car accident (it want my fault!) and the car was totaled. They got more from the insurance company then they could have sold it for so they were thrilled!

haha I have honestly never thought about it. I have wished destruction on certain items for sure, but I've never actually thought about being the one to destruct said item.

I may have to reach my inner bad girl on a few items in our house. ;)

When DH and I first moved in together we got his parent's old microwave, which I hated. Since it was so old I suggested to my DH that maybe it's leaking microwaves (which was probably complete bullcrap) and DH got a little freaked out by it from then on. Soon, we bought a new microwave lol!!

I used to do that when I was kid!

Now, I just go out and replace something myself. If my husband complains about it, I sell the old thing on kijiji

That reminds me of yesterday!! I think I got duped. DH claimed our tires were getting too thin so we bought a nice set of new ones.
Then last night, he resold the old ones (for super cheap) on Craigslist. Just realized our tread was not so bad if he sold the old ones!! OH well! Because it's more of a safety thing, I wasn't confident enough to argue with him to keep the old tires longer.

My husband has done this! When we moved in together I had a purple desk chair from college that he hated. When we painted he "accidentally" spilled paint on it and we had to throw it out and buy a new one.

While we were engaged, I accidentally broke a few of DH's dishes. They were black Corningware that shatters into a thousand pieces when they hit the floor. He said that I did it to get new plateware. We got all of the plateware we registered for and the black Corningware was saved briefly for his brother when he moved out of his parents' house. We've been married almost 5 years and his brother hasn't moved out of the house.

I say subtle destruction is okay.

I wouldn't I am always the one on your husbands side of the argument. I never want to buy anything new if we have something that works and he always wants the fancier stuff. He usually holds some past purchases over my head like our dyson. I told him he was a fool for paying $500 on a vacuum and when he brought it home it worked way better and we have had it for over ten years. He always reminds me of that...I roll my eyes.....he buys a new gadget.

Cause I'm totally thinking about doing this to our perfectly respectable B&D coffee maker. It works fine, especially considering that we've had it several years and only paid about $20 for it. But I've had my eye on one of those fancier 2-in-1 coffee makers that lets you brew into a travel mug, has a hot water dispenser...maybe one with a built in grinder?

But D is very practical, and keeps saying that we don't need a new coffee maker because the one we have works just fine (which is true!)

While I don't necessarily need his permission to buy it, we have a deal where any non-essential purchases over $100 have to be agreed upon by both of us.

Would I be an awful person if I accidentally broke Darth so that we could get a new one???

ETA: I don't think I would seriously do it, though, haha! Just tempted! Maybe I'll ask for it for Easter or my birthday ;)
