My little one isn't here yet, so it's been a while since I've seen children's programming, but I have seen a couple of episodes at friends' houses.

I cannot handle Dora. At all. I understand what they are doing and why they keep pausing, but holy cow, does it drive me nuts. I find it highly annoying at this point. Maybe I'll change my view once we're at that point in life.

I'm so glad my eldest DD is "over" Dora! Mitchell on Modern Family once said he once plotted the death of her and that's one of my most favorite lines from a TV sitcom ever :) I did prefer the songs and animation of Ni Hao Kai-lan more. Team UmiZoomi is cute too and educational (about math!). DD's not too much into TV though lately and that's fine by me!

My daughter likes Dora and Diego a lot, and says a lot of things in Spanish because of it, but she really loves Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. She is constantly saying things to me in Mandarin and I have no idea what she's talking about. At least with Spanish I know enough to figure out what she's saying. It is nice for her to get familiarity with other cultures, though. I'm hoping I can take her to our city's Dragon Boat Festival this year. I wish we had a Moon Festival because that's her favorite episode. I think she would die if I brought home a moon cake!

@miss-spunkin: I loved reading rainbow and bill nye the science guy!!

My nephew watches Dora and he also repeats a lot of what she says. I'm indifferent towards it. We also watch Ni Hao KaiLan since apparently that's how the hubby learns Chinese better (instead of repeating from me).

Probably in the minority, but I really don't like the show. I don't have any good reason for not liking it, other than finding it really annoying. If I watch it, I feel my brain cells dying.

There are other kids shows I like better, but I feel like kids TV is going downhill these days. I grew up watching shows like Reading Rainbow and Bill Nye The Science Guy - what happened to those types of shows?!

My youngest has loved Dora since she was probably 2 and is now 5 and still wants to watch it sometimes.
I think it's really great and she's able to say quite a bit in Spanish and I know I didn't teach her that lol

That was RJ's first favorite show. He was OBSESSED. That show is actually really great for teaching spanish and steps for problem solving.

But the biggest thing is the way they produce the show. They'll create the show then screen it for a bunch of toddlers and young kids. Every time a kid takes their eyes off the screen, they make a note and REDO that part of the scene. So literally the show is customized to keep kids' attention on the show every second possible. A little creepy, but GENIUS. I"m convinced this is why so many kids are so obsessed with Dora!

Thankfully RJ has moved on to Wonder Pets, Pocoyo, and Charlie Brown movies.

I haven't seen it, but I've heard good things. My 6 year old niece loves it, and it's great for her because her mom's side of the family speaks spanish.

My friends daughter watches Dora and loves it! She's watched so much of it that she'll say a few things in Spanish now. It's repetitive, but I like it (for kids). :)

It is sooooooo repetitive. Every episode is the same. LO got bored of it really quickly and doesn't want to watch it anymore. Thank goodness because the songs got stuck in my head and I was singing "Back pack, back pack!" all day long.

Dora The Explorer is a pretty educational show! I turned it on this morning out of desperation (Charlie was being a bit crazy) and he is really getting into it... repeating everything Dora says. I'm impressed!

Have you ever seen Dora The Explorer? What do you think of the show?
