In northern washington, during a big solar storm. It was the middle of the night, on the last night of a church camp. We all went out side to see it, and it was truly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Our last big trip before baby was to Alaska this winter! We went up to Fairbanks and did a night time 'tour' where they brought you up to the top of a hill and you just sat and waiting for them-- thankfully they showed up because it would have been a lot of effort to miss it!! I lived in way upstate NY, 30 minutes south of the Canadian border and we saw them often in the winter! It was so amazing and beautiful. I loved looking at the stars and the northern lights together... Until my nostrils started freezing together, lol.
