The ones at our house aren't that sensitive though, I can't remember ever setting them off in the 4 years we've lived there. We had a very tiny kitchen at the last place we lived, and the smoke alarm went off CONSTANTLY. If we had the oven above 350, basically, it would go off. We eventually unhooked it! We have 10' ceilings, but I still have to go get a step stool and fan the smoke detector with a rag until the smoke clears. Nothing was burning, just let out some smoke and off it went. So we disabled it - bad, I know.
