@HeatherlovesKenny: yeah, my trips with both of them alone are very calculated. I make sure I'm only out for amount of time and make sure there's enough things to keep them interested. I definitely always put the kids in the car before loading anything else (strollers, groceries, etc)

@Coco Bee: Oh yeah, I do take them to he park by myself sometimes. Our closest playground is two blocks away and is part of the catholic school that's there. I don't worry as much when I take them to the playground as much for some reason. Maybe it's because it's close to home? The playground is not very big so it's easy to watch them. The mall, although is obviously enclosed just seems very open to me. And the fact that we took public transportation. My mind just wanders if I have no agenda I guess. Not sure I'd be able to take 3 kids though so kudos to you.

@looch: My son is not very wild in the active sense, unless he's delirious from lack of sleep. So I don't really have to worry about that with him luckily.

I don't worry that my son is going to get snatched, I worry he's going to run into traffic.

Not a mom of two yet - but I have been a nanny to several LO's, I've taken four kids out at once and it does get stressful!! I don't prefer to have that many - three is more manageable.

Right now I nanny two kids and bring my own, we go to the park a lot. I put the two youngin's in the stroller and the 5yo walks while holding onto the stroller. When we get there I either wear my son or keep him in the stroller as he is more content to watch and focus my energies on the others.

Just the difference between city li8fe and rural life, but I never worry about one of the kids being snatched by a stranger. Ik do, however, worry a lot about a mountain lion or bear attack while I'm out in the woods alone with kids. I just try to remind myself that there's a very low statistical chance of that happening and that if it did happen I (hopefully) know enough survival techniques to get all of us out alive. It doesn't stop me from taking the kids hiking or for nature walks, but it does keep me worried the whole time we're out.

I do it often and I get so nervous each time just because I'm worried they'll have break downs simultaneously and I won't be able to handle it by myself! As far as safety goes, I keep DS in the stroller and DD in the front carrier so I can keep both of them with me at all times. However, I hate putting them back into the car since I have to leave one of them in while I put the stroller away. Maybe I'll put one of them in, lock the door, put the stroller away, unlock doors and put the other child in? That might make me feel better.

@mrbee: yeah, that would be reason to have a double stroller. Luckily, we drive almost everywhere. And I don't normally take them out by myself. I take them to the market but they have shopping carts for two kids so that helps.

@BoogieBea: The few times I've taken them both out together, I either keep them both in the double stroller or I hold them both at the same time!

I don't trust Charlie to listen to me if he takes off running... and I don't trust myself to be able to grab him if I'm holding the other baby!

@mrbee: well, my daughter was in the stroller and I was holding my son's hand the entire time. Well, while we were eating she was on my lap and he was sitting across from me. Then I took her out of the stroller while we watched people ice skate. So my dilemma is, how can I keep the other one safe while I try to protect the child in danger? Especially when I'm holding one child who isn't walking yet.

@BoogieBea: I watch the kids really carefully when we're out together and if someone tried to snatch one of them, I feel pretty confident that I would maim or kill that person with my bare hands!

My son had a long week because it was his first full week of school. So, so to lift up his spirits, I took him (3 years) and his sister (1 year, not walking) out to a nearby mall for dinner on the bus yesterday evening. He loves the bus and they both had a blast. But do you ever wonder what you would do if someone ever tries to snatch one of your kids while your out alone with them? Is it very morbid of me that that's what I was thinking about while I was at the mall with my two kids?
