We have done a lot of car camping and several short canoe trips too. My oldest daughter was about 9 months on her first canoe trip, and she loves it. Depending on where you live, canoe trips can be *so* easy and get you far out of the busy car camping scene.<br /> Even at Algonquin park here, there are many launch areas that have canoes on site for rent, so you don't have to rent or own one and lug it up there. We were given a trailer that needed some interior work last spring so we gave it a Pinterest inspired facelift and we camped with our 2 most of the summer! I used to love. It was stressful - we went with friends who had a 3 and a 5 year old so they ran around being loud while we tried to do naps, and then he woke up crying every 45 minutes or so until we realized he was cold at about 3am and brought him into our sleeping bag.
