When DS1 was 4years and DS2 was 7 weeks. I drove 2 hours and got on a ferry for block island with them by myself. The worst part was that DS2 hates the car and screamed the entire time. I cried for most of the drive and stopped multiple times. Then I had to get all of our stuff out of a car and down 3 flights of stairs from the parking garage and walk 3 blocks with them and all of our stuff. I ended up nursing the baby in the Moby and packed everything into the stroller and made DS1 walk and hold onto it. We made it with 5 minutes to spare! Then I got sea sick on the ferry! It was nuts, but I was really proud of myself that I accomplished it.

I took a 24-hour flight with my oldest when he was 10 months old. I had bulk head in first and he slept a total of 3 hours on the entire trip (two stop overs). He made it up to me by not having any jet lag going there and coming home.

I'm about to go on the same trip with now my two boys (then 3.75 y.o. and 9 month old) a couple of months from now by myself. That should be interesting... :) I'm a little more nervous this time...

OH man! I also traveled cross country with a baby for Thanksgiving (DH flew the next day). It was actually not bad because the lady next to me was engaged and totally had baby fever and helped me keep him entertained. :) I lucked out!
I also let him touch the gross plane floor. Eew.

I traveled by myself from tx to the east coast with Dd to a wedding when she was 15 mo. DH was traveling on assignment so he met us there. she did great and was feeding goldfish to the nice gentleman sitting next to us. We also luckily had an empty seat in the row.

@NYCaliMama: awesome job with 2 kids! Very brave.

@Honeybee: That is a long drive with 2 kids. Good luck on your next trip!

@NYCaliMama: Stickers was one of the things I had. She just played with them on the wall we were facing.

I flew with both girls from CA to NYC by myself. They were 4.5 yo and 12 months at the time. DH took most of our luggage on his trip the day before though. I had with me: a Sit N Stroll, a car booster seat, one carry-on, and the Uppa Baby G-Luxe. I'm so thankful for the friendly drivers and airport staff who helped me on that trip. Oh and stickers on that flight were a huge hit with both girls, thank goodness.

Nice! I drove both kids to my parents' house on Wednesday (about a five hour drive). DD did fine, but DS cried off and on for about 3 hours. I'm dreading doing that trip again by myself in a few weeks. :(

We went home to celebrate thanksgiving with our families last week. It was a 6 hour flight coming back and my husband and I were split up. So we were essentially each traveling alone with one LO. I had a bulkhead seat with our younger one who's still a lap child at 16 months. I was in the window seat so it was very hard for me to access my bags while holding her in my arms. I took the minimum items I needed and entertained her with just a few small toys. Luckily, that kept her busy the entire flight. She played on the floor of the plane for most of it - it was pretty gross watching her touch and roll around everywhere. But she kept quiet for 6 hours and even fell asleep for an hour. I was very thankful.
