We had a pop-up camper as a kid. It was relatively easy and there are lots of campgrounds. KOA was often the best as kids. It often had a pool. We had to make sure that there were restrooms and showers as well, because a pop-up camper doesn't have those.

We did this most of our summers growing up! Lots of fun. I would encourage going for it. It's so nice to have a traveling home with you. I'm sure there are lots of websites that help you pick out good spots along the way.

Whoever is driving does get tired and you want to get settled in before dark, so plan on retiring earlier than your usual time on road trips. You'll get your routine down pat. We all had little jobs to get camp set up and had our goodies to entertain us in the car.

DH and I want to do this with the kids - we are in PA and his brother and SIL is out west - thought we could take a nice long drive and stop along the way

Have you ever done this? How was your experience?
