I've tried, but my older LO knows what we have and often ends up asking for things. So I rotate as best I can, but end up pulling things out if the girls want something specific. I don't always put away a toy when I get out a fresh one.

Can you share the post? I want to, to get her excited about old stuff, but she also doesn't have a TON of toys like a lot of kids so I don't really how to do it.

i've done it but not systematically. i've tended to take away toys he has lost interest and replace them with some new ones (say after a bday or xmas), but then when he gets bored of those, i bring out the old ones and there is renewed interest for a while.

I want to do this again. We did it when LO1 was younger but now she asks to play with just about everything she has. So unless I can explain the toy rotation thing to her, it may be a headache!

A friend recently shared a post on toy rotation to a group we're in. I took the idea and ran with it last night. I moved half of the toys that were downstairs, threw away a bunch of junk that can't even be considered a toy and stored a bunch of toys in a bin I'm putting in the shed for a month or two. I'll swap out different toys when I bring these back out.

So far I'm happy that we have cleared some of the junk out of our family room and added some more options for play upstairs.
