With my first, I broke a filling and needed a repair. With my second, I got a root canal. I would definitely get a second opinion because 8 cavities and fillings seems like a lot. Do you have dental insurance? Most insurances will pay for a comprehensive exam at another providers office I think. It's 1 per lifetime per provider. Ask your dentist for copies of the X-rays that they took and you may not have to retake those. Also, usually you can code X-rays a different way and the insurance will likely cover it if they need a few more or a different angle. I think I was about 6 months post-partum when I found out that I had 8 cavities. Ugh. It completely surprised me because I'm not in pain and my previous dentist who I saw every 6 months only did 1 repair in 6 years.<br /> I want a second opinion but it may cost more money to get that than to have all this dental work.<br /> Has anyone been through this before? Did pregnancy make you more prone to dental problems? </p>
