I had one removed in college, there is a little scar. I've gotten a bunch of new ones with my pregnancies, something about increased blood flow. Some of them went away after LO1, I am going to wait a few months PP and then see a dermatologist. There are two on my back and some on my chest I wonder about. The chest ones come and go with pregnancy, so I want to see what's still there before I get a bunch of stuff removed.

@Turd Ferguson: Oh gees. I actually haven't even really looked at it. It looks black, but I think that makes sense since the doctor said she used something like nitrate to stop the bleeding. The pain subsided a bit this morning so I am taking that as a good sign. Of course I chose to have this done while I'm pregnant and won't take any pain meds or down half a bottle of voda like I normally would for something like this!

@agold: Ugh, that blows. Yeah, it hurt, I don't remember so much how long it was with the punch biopsy, the WLE hurt forevvvvvver. I bet it's worse since its on your ribs though, too. :/

Does it look ok (like, not infected) otherwise?

@Turd Ferguson: Sorry to bump this old thread. Do you recall if your punch biopsy hurt for days after the procedure was done? I just had one done on Wednesday of last week of a freckle on my rib cage area. Once the numbing shot wore off hours later, it hurt like a bitch and STILL HURTS 5 days later. :bummed:

One on my back . . . it was right on was of my lower vertebrae, so every time I would do something like a sit up on a hardish surface it would hurt. I do have a scar from the removal, but it is flat and better looking than the mole.

I had a large mole removed from the back of my leg when I was in high school. It was larger then a quarter, slightly raised and had started turning colors. I have 3inch scar but I'm glad it's gone! Kids use to make fun of me saying I had poop on my leg.

@caffeinated: Wouldn't hurt to have a full body check at some point, but man are they awkward. Get a girl doctor--I don't mind a male gyno, but you really need a girl dermatologist if she's gonna look at all your skin and crevices. Freckles are really okay, though. Just keep an eye on them and make sure they're not growing/changing/darkening. I'm waaaaay overdue on my mole check; that's one of the first things on my post-pregnancy agenda.

@caffeinated: Haha, ugliness does not equal dangerous. If they're not dark, irregular, huge, new or growing, you're probably fine. Don't google it or you'll want to throw up, btw.

One (my birthmark) on my right leg and another (pre cancerous) on my left leg. Both left bad scars. Having them removed by a dermatologist would definitely have been better. My PCP did mine.
