My braces gave my TMJ problems though (locked jaw) that later on required surgery. Boo! However, I did have one tooth that grew in really strangely, so I had to get braces to get him into place. Once there, I didn't need them anymore. It was ~8 months, 6th and 7th grade. They weren't as bad as I always imagined. I got retainers, but I never wore them, and my teeth are starting to move now.....Although I probably won't do invisiline or anything. It really doesn't bother me at all. I had some pretty jacked up teeth. I wore a retainer for a couple of years in junior high and braces for my freshman year of high school. They've gone a little crooked again because I stopped wearing my retainer. My teeth were NOT good. I had them from 6th to 8th grade, didn't wear my retainers, and had to do Invisalign in my mid-20s. The Invisalign in my 20's was cosmetic but I felt so much more comfortable after I did it.
