And a young Woman asked to take a picture... I was too stunned to say no... I figure they are pretty harmless and just love babies. If I think about it, I'll wipe her hands with a wipe, but I don't stress about it. I've had a few people ask to hold her and I usually let them as long as they don't look crazy. I think it's pretty normal in certain populations. One was a toddler and the other was a baby. I had DS in the swings and she asked if I would hold the baby while she got the toddler in the swing. I was happy to oblige. A few old ladies at a boutique once offered to hold LO so I could try on clothes (they owned the place.) & a lady at the doctors office when I was trying to fill out paperwork but LO was too little to sit on her own but also didn't like to just sit in her infant carrier. We were on a plane and the person in the seat next to us asked if she could, and I let her. We'd already been hanging out beside her for 6 hours, and she'd seen my boobs at least five times since I had the middle seat and LO was fighting the cover, so sure... hold my baby too. Also on a cruise a few people asked to hold her and I let them. I was on the plane both times, & I was trying to get all of my stuff together while holding a squirmy 3 month old baby. I was actually grateful that someone offered to hold them, because I was struggling. I think that it helps that we were in an enclosed space, and there's nowhere that they could have gone. ETA- I had a lady at the park ask me to hold her baby while she was trying to wrangle her toddler. I happily did. I mean, even the owners and managers knew us on sight! And the waitresses holding the kids always stayed in sight, they were just showing them off to the older customers who were regulars like us. C was screaming at the grocery store and I was just trying to grab what I needed. This lady was like, oh I could hold her for you. A very nice waitress walked away with her one day!!!! I went to the restroom and saw my husband with a worried look and no baby. Then he told she said she was going to hold her for a minute and basically walked away with her to the register. I was like WTF?!?! I was not pleased and my husband jumped up to grab her again. I think he felt awkward and didn't know what to say. I had to ask a 9 year old to please stop trying to pick her up the other day while we were playing outside at a shopping center in a "green" area.
