We did 2-3-4 for a loooong time. From about 4 months to almost 14 months. It took a couple weeks to get her used to only have 2 naps (instead of 3 wildly unpredictable naps). That was also the same exact time frame where she stopped STTN and started waking up 1-2 times per night. Interesting...

We are semi- doing this with my 7 month old, but the four-hour stretch can be a little sticky. Sometimes we do a little more of a 2-3-3.5. Or if his naps are too short or early, I'll try to force a third nap so he's not overtired at bedtime.

Thank you so much ladies! I am going to try this. Not sure if we will make four hours though.

We did this starting at 6-7 months with Jaren. It really worked well for us! Sometimes that last 4 hour stretch can be tough, but we made it for the most part.

Yes we did this and it worked awesome! We started implementing it around 6-7 months. We still loosely follow at 15 months. I will say that ours was more a 2-3-3. It's hard for her to hit a 4 hour mark.

I want to try but my baby stillllllll only naps 30 mins 95% of the time.

So if he's up at 7 the 2-3-4 schedule would be..
Nap 9-930
Nap 1230-1
Bedtime 5

Doesn't work! Lol :(

Right now he's napping every 3 hours or so.

@Mrsjets: We have the exact same schedule, even down to the variable 1:30ish nap, except sometimes LO (9 months) wakes up before 7.

I didn't enforce it, but I noticed around 7 months that he started to fall into that pattern. Now, at 10 months, it's pretty much spot on, and I love the predictability of it! The only portion of it that fluctuates is between last nap and bedtime - sometimes it's more like 3 hours instead of 4, but I stick firm with the bedtime.

We loosely follow this but it is more like 3-3.5-3.5/4 at 12 months. When we first went to 2 naps at 5.5 months it was 2-2.5-3. (So bedtime was much earlier months ago than it is now.) Her wake times have gradually lengthened & she can go longer between naps and before bed than she can in the morning.

We are solidly on 2 naps, but follow more of a 3-2-3 type schedule, or 3-3-3 mostly because of me having to wake him up to feed in the morning before work. Naps are usually 2 hrs each. He's never really awake more than 3 or 3.5hrs before bedtime. I think 4 is still too much for him at 7.5 months.

It worked for us starting around six months. She would go down for the second nap sooner, but then not nap again before bed and it would w too long for her, so when I switched to this the naps were spread out a lot better. But she always needed that morning nap to be pretty early.

When my 7.5 month old made the transition from 3 to 2 naps, the 2-3-4 schedule really started to make sense! When it was 3 naps it was still like 2.75-3.0 hours wake time.

We did this from roughly 8 months - maybe 12 months with both boys. DS2 just turned 1 and I still kind of follow this but with longer intervals: 3-3.5-4. So, for example, up at 6, nap at 9, up at 1030, nap at 2, up at 330, bed at 7:30.

We do a loose version of 2-3-4 and it works great. I think we started it around 8 months. Wake up around 6, first nap between 8 and 9, usually lasts an hour. Second nap at 1, usually lasts an hour, bedtime starts at 6:30 and asleep by 7.

Yup! My almost 8 month old's schedule is pretty close to this everyday. Oh and we're only taking 2 naps that usually last an hour and a half each.

7 am wake
9 am nap
130 pm nap #2 - this nap moves up or back depending on how long the first nap is.
7 pm bed time

Have you had success with a 2-3-4 schedule or do you maintain consistent wake times during the day? If you used 2-3-4 when did you start and when did your baby outgrow it?

I'm thinking of trying this because LO (almost 8 months) is ready to nap 2hrs after waking, but it's a struggle to get him to take the next two naps after 2hrs of wake time.
