I was subtyped and it was the strain A Texas. It was accompanied by 105 degree fevers, chills and severe body aches. Once I had true flu, I knew that those millions of colds that we always call flu, were in fact, nothing compared to the real deal.</p> <p>There is a lot of Influenza B going on right now and a certain proportion of it isn't covered by the vaccine this year, unfortunately. I was in bed for 6-7 days straight and missed en entire week of work. It was horrible. Since then, I've gotten the flu shot every year and have yet to get the flu since. This is the worst year for the flu in many, many years. I used to think I had "the flu" when it was just a bad cold, but once I actually had the flu I understood. Like @JoJoGirl: I was completely out of commission for a week. I had to have my sister call work to tell them I was sick because I couldn't even handle that, had fever, chills, sweats, the works.
