the most recent one I remember is LO1 was struggling to go down for bed (normal) and she looked at me with the big tear-filled eyes and said "mommy just hold me." and I did and she was out in 2 minutes. I laid with her for an hour because in that moment I knew these times were far and few between and I need to enjoy while I can. Another one was watching Little Mermaid (my favorite) and seeing just how much she loved it, our local theater announced it's playing it first weekend in Oct. part of their Disney series, so I can't wait for her to experience the big theater.

My first heart-melting moment for DD2 was I laid her down for sleep, she smiles her biggest smile at me, grabs my finger, and then falls asleep.

My moment was when my LO was sitting in his high chair and unprompted said "I love you" to me. We were just eating lunch and it was a totally normal moment but it was beautiful to me.

@Mrs. Pen: LO did this with me this morning. He woke up about a half hour earlier than usual, and he just crawled up and said, "I lay with you mommy? I snuggle with you?" It was the best wake up

I've been thinking about this and what mine is. I found it and I get it a lot. Some mornings my son wakes up early, he comes to our bed and snuggles in and let's me put my arms around him, his fluffy blonde curls against my face and every few minutes he whispers the sweetest things like, "I love you mama." Or, "I love cuddling you." Holding him in the early morning half asleep is the absolutel parent dream.

B tends to wake up after about an hour from naps, but if I go pick him up and cuddle him he'll go back to sleep. More often than not I'll sit down in the chair, recline it, and just lay there for another hour with my sweet boy asleep on my chest, thinking about how lucky I am to have him.

These are so sweet!

I had a moment just two days ago like this. LO usually naps 3 hours but she woke up early and was so cranky. I scooped her up and rocked her and sang to her and she went back to sleep in my arms. It's been close to a year since she's done that. There was a time when I was rocking her back to sleep at every nap and multiple times per night and I was miserable. Now I just soaked it up. There is just something about rocking your sleeping baby that feels so completely "Mom."

Of course, the next day when she fought her nap I was kind of wishing I had made her CIO :silly:

DS is only 2 months old, but I'm already enjoying the moments when he's all smiles for me, or pops off while breast feeding to smile at me, milk dribbling out of hismouth and his little hand resting on the side of my boob, it's just so sweet. I feel so happy in those moments and really look forward to many more as he grows.

@Mrs. Oatmeal: my LOs prayers always get me too. So innocent and sweet.

I remember my very first one... DD#1 was 3 weeks old and it was NYE. We stayed home and my husband had fallen asleep on the couch before midnight. I was holding J in the glow of the Christmas tree lights, watching the ball drop on TV, as DH snoozed away... "Auld Lang Syne" started playing and I remember swaying to the music, looking down at my beautiful daughter, and crying like a baby because I was so happy.

Another memorable moment was when she was just learning how to say "Mama". I came home from work and she was already in bed. When I heard her cry, I walked in to check on her and she exclaimed, "Mama!" in the most relieved/soothed way...I don't know... In that moment, I knew I was her whole world, and it was amazing.

The most recent was last night. Before bed, she told me she wanted to give baby sister ("baby sistah") a hug...then she wanted to go give her a kiss...then "a smile"...then "some lovies"...I think she was half stalling, but it makes my heart so happy to see how much she adores her.

I can't pinpoint just one but I have gotten to do quite a few of those things as dd has gotten older- trips, beach, activities we always talked about doing as a family- and they get better and better. Parenting is both harder than I imagined but also way more rewarding!

My heart melts at all these wonderful stories!! Thanks for sharing everyone. :)

Mine was a few weeks ago. I was in the office working and DH asked me to come to the living room to watch our older son (the younger one was already asleep) while he went and took out the garbage. The older one was just hanging out drinking his some milk watching some cartoons and I looked at him and thought how lucky I am to watch him grow up. Then out of no where he said to me... Mommy I love you! He normally doesn't say this without being asked. It was a great moment!

I love this thread! I am having so many more of these moments as my kids are getting older. Just tonight at dinner my kids were both laughing at my hiccuping and they were so cute that DH and I were laughing too and it just all felt perfect. It's those little, everyday moments that melt my heart

Last night, I was listening to K getting ready for bed with DH. DH was about to start prayers, and K says "No, I pray." She then proceeded to thank God for everything in her room she could think of. "And thank you my bed, and thank you my teddy, and thank you I'm not scared spiders, and thank you no bears." and on, and on.

It was so, so precious. I don't know that I specifically dreamed about it beforehand, but I definitely thought "Yep, this is it."

I have a lot of them. My LO doesn't let me rock her to sleep anymore but pretty much any time she was sleeping on me it felt like that was what I'd always pictured. Definitely made her not STTN consistently until 14 mo better because (almost) every time I was up at 4am rocking her in the dark in her room I felt like that was what I'd always thought motherhood would be (I did not anticipate the iPhone or kindle... which thank god for those lol).

Pretty much any time my LO runs into my arms. Pretty much any time I tickle her and she laughs so hard.

Well its a happy/sad moment. I've been really distressed by the images of refugees/asylum seekers in Europe and Australia, they seem to be on a constant cycle on the news and my facebook feed. This morning I had my son on my lap, getting his shoes on for daycare and they replayed a horrible scene of a man throwing himself, his wife and their son on train tracks in protest of not being allowed out of Hungary. I just lost it and started sobbing and clutching my son - just then my husband got home from the gym and found me crying, and said "Mummy needs a cuddle and kiss, she's upset" and my son, who had been trying to squirm out of my arms, hugged me around my neck and kissed me on the lips which he NEVER EVER does. Of course it just made me cry harder! Its been a rough morning but his empathy and kindness was a "moment" for sure

As gross as this sounds, the most recent one was when DD was sick. She saw me and came running for me, clearly upset, just for some comfort right before she vomited all over me
I even had this gut feeling that's what was about to happen and I didn't care. My baby wanted and needed me because she was sick and I was there with open arms ready to catch her... All of her. We got cleaned up and she wanted to snuggle in my shower with me. Not her Daddy (who had the unfortunate task of cleaning the aftermath.)

It sounds so odd but being the safe place where she could be sick and feel loved and cared for was, in some gross way, perfect.

That's a really beautiful moment!! Mine is usually when baby girl has been running around like crazy all day, then just collapses onto my shoulder for a big hug. She'll just lay there and rub my back.

I remember getting teary the 1st time DS1 asked me to dance with him. He wanted to slow dance like the cartoons. I remember thinking one day we will be doing this at his wedding.

My heart often wants to burst when I see my boys interacting and being kind to each other. One day DS1 was sharing his ice cream with his brother and wiped his mouth when it dripped. I love it when they are affectionate with each other.

This made me tear up a little too.

I have these moments often, but I don't usually take the time to reflect the way I do with the bad parenting moments.

DS and I flew (just us) to the beach earlier this year and he was so thrilled with the waves and the sand and the sun, it was so amazing to see the wonder and joy in his eyes. I can't wait to go back <3

Impromptu dance parties are the best!

Mine was actually just a few nights ago...I was sitting in bed watching D and E read a book. D was doing all the voices, and E was trying to mimic him but kept giggling. Baby girl was dancing in my stomach, and my heart just suddenly felt so full that I started to cry. E got very concerned, and asked why I was sad, and I said that I wasn't sad, I just felt so much happiness in my heart that it had to come out. Then he put his head and on my chest and listened to my heart, then kissed my belly

@littlebug: you are totally going to make me cry to with that story :)

Probably the closest moments I've had are post-bath play sessions where F crawls up and down the hall looking back over his shoulder smiling trying to start a game of chase/hide and seek, then we "chase" each other for 15min laughing. We have so much fun, it definitely makes me feel like these are the moments that will create lasting memories ( you know, when he's old enough to remember)
