We have some of the highest rated municipal water (apparently they do major tap water taste testing competitions and we do very well) so I definitely try not to pay for water besides with my taxes. Even Nestle comes and takes ground water about 30 minutes from my house for their "spring" water. The idea of all the chemicals in plastic water bottles is a little scary which leads me to buy cases of pellegrino from Costco since it comes in glass bottles. If the boxed water didn't have a ton of nasty chemicals in the packaging I may considerate it. So, I'm not sure why it feels gimmicky to me, but it does.
