I've done both. I've had a really rough time after LO came with daily migraines, so I literally can't exercise or I get a migraine. Plus Everyone seems to be getting sick (MIL has breast cancer, I had surgery for migraines, DH had surgery for crohns, my grandma just passed away) and I'm a comfort eater. Plus, who has time for makeup? I'm lucky if I brush my teeth every day!

I lost all of my baby weight after DD but my body doesn't look the same! I always say I look good standing up but then there is a belly roll when I sit down. After this baby I plan to get into great shape :) So ask me in a year?

The only aspect that has suffered post baby is my wardrobe because I haven't really bought anything new since LO was born. I feel like when I look better, I feel better so I do try to keep up with everything else on your list.

Yes to both, sadly. I'm hoping to get into a better groove now that I have some better motivators at my disposable. We just joined the Y, which has childcare here, but it's still hard figuring out when I can take a class that works with his naps and such.

I am trying hard not to! At 12 weeks pp I have only not showered about 4 times and mostly by choice (read: too lazy). I am back at my pre-pg weight but my body is totally different. I have been too tired and unmotivated to work out (I was a fiend during pregnancy) and I eat a ton of crap all day! Thank goodness for breastfeeding! Once I get this baby stuff figured out a little better I hope to go to the gym more often...and eventually get a haircut!

I have, to some extent. I'm a SAHM and rarely leave the house. I'm certainly not taking a shower, flat ironing my hair & putting on make up so I can hang out with the peanut all day.

If we have plans, are going somewhere, or are expecting company I definitely put on regular clothes & do my hair + make up.

Otherwise, it's my momiform of yoga pants & t-shirts with a pony tail.

NO! But we'll see after baby is here!
I'm always better with #1 than #2--I never really learned properly how the parts of 2 work with self esteem. I'm working on it.

I definitely have after the second pregnancy. Both in body and outer appearance. I definitely took better care of myself both during and after my first pregnancy. I'm trying to eat better and work out so I can get back into shape. Especially now, that summer is here - can't hide behind my sweaters and coats anymore.

Well I have a lot of baby weight to lose, but that's not exactly letting yourself go. I find that I actually pay more attention to my appearance to make up for it. Also, I don't want people pittying me by leaving the house a mess of spit up and sweatpants. Yes I might be crazily sleep deprived, but I don't want to look it!

I gained a little happy weight in the two years that I've been married. About a month ago I decided I should put a stop to it before it got out of hand. I go to the gym 3-4 days a week now and I love it. I want to be attractive, but I also want to be healthy and strong for a pregnancy.

I honestly thought that I would have an issue keeping it together after LO was born because I HATE to exercise but I actually weigh less now than on my wedding day! Good or bad, a big contributing factor has been our special diet due to LO's extensive allergies. We eat really healthy since I cook almost everything from scratch. No processed food or complex carbs either. Plus, I think I get plenty of exercise carrying and chasing after her.

When it comes to make-up and dress, I'm no fashionista but I make sure I'm at least presentable.

oh yes I have gone to hell. =\ Fortunately I lost all my pregnancy weight, in fact, I think I weigh less than before I was pregnant, but that would be b/c I have no time to eat anymore. BUT, my butt has drooped to the point where I dont' think I even have one anymore. I never wear make-up anymore b/c no time in the morning, and it took over a year for my hair to grow back to normal (in the front)- even now they only "bangs" length. I have not bought clothes in I don't know how long .... I wear the same things every week. I do shower every day though .... between showering and make-up, I choose shower. Even if I look like crap, at least I feel clean ;p

Yes i have. I think it's easy to do when you have kids seeing you aren't priority and tend to be super busy. Much easy to tie your hair up, slap on some flats and run out the door.

I definitely want to start taking control this summer. Let me just get time for my body to go back to normal (6 weeks)

Before I got married and got comfortable in my relationship DH I let my body go, I was always very thin but it seemed at exactly 25 my metabolism disappeared and I gained weight quickly. However, I never let my hair or apperance go tryign to make up for it. I am tyring to walk a lot now so that way post baby it won't be such a shock to my body when I start working out again.

I'm hoping to avoid it on the front end. I've already printed off a meal plan for post-pregnancy and made an appointment to get my hair cut/colored 3 weeks post-baby. We'll see how getting to the gym goes, but since I rely on it for de-stressing, I'm hoping it's easy to get back into the habit!

Ask me in 4 or 5 months, when I'm a working mom of 2 trying to lose the baby weight ;) I'm hoping the answer is a big fat NO!

@Rubies: I think yoga pants are great, as long as they're still black! and not faded greyish blue, like mine are... yuck. Better than sweatpants...!!!

Well, I'm pregnant and I feel like I have "let myself go" since getting married... in a way. I don't dress up as much and I definitely don't go out trying to look sexy.

DH is the type that is really into clothes, and I dont' mind going to dinner in my workout wear, no makeup, etc! I suppose once LO arrives it's only going to get worse!

I've let myself go post-baby in the sense that I'm fine wearing yoga pants and a loose top out in public. I still care about showering and brushing my hair but my overall ensemble have kind of taken a nosedive. I'm still carrying a lot of pregnancy weight but I plan on getting rid of it before I go back to work.

There are two levels of "letting yourself go," according to a well-known expert on the subject (that would be me).

The Two Levels Of Letting Yourself Go:

1) Letting your body go (not eating healthily, gaining weight).
2) Letting everything else go (e.g. not making an effort to wear something that looks remotely nice, not showering regularly, not taming your hair, etc.).

I did both for a while, but started taking better care of my body a few years ago. I'm kicking up the self-improvement efforts on that front now, but am also making an effort to shower more often and to dress better too. I even wear a blazer out most days, instead of the puffy jacket I used to wear.

I find that I'm less embarrassed when I run into people on the street lately. Progress?

How about you: have you struggled with letting yourself go at all?
