My office says to start drinking 16-20oz of water at 75 minutes pre-transfer and finish it in 15 mins (so be completely finished one hour before transfer time). That's always worked for me so I'm not crazy uncomfortable.

@Mrs Green Grass: Did they just place embryos by the measurement on the catheter, I guess?

I was "very full" the first time but not too full. This last time, they were running behind, and by the time I got back there, my bladder was "4x" the size of my uterus! I had to do a partial void, which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and then my bladder was still very full, perfect for the transfer. :goodluck:

ETA: Somehow my mock transfers went off without a hitch...but maybe that's because they were done with an empty bladder...I think?

I have, after a horrible over-filling before an ultrasound. The nurse said to only drink half of what I drank, so now I gave one glass of liquid and it does the job without being uncomfortable.

I have to say that the partial release of urine with a full bladder is one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever had to do. Ugh, it was awful. I wish I knew a secret to doing it and not being so uncomfortable.

I think filling your bladder for a mock transfer and the real thing is an art. I always wind up drinking way too much water and feel like bursting by the time I get to the doctor's office. As a result I'm good at "empty into this cup but no more" or "empty for 10 seconds." It's definitely the worse part of transfer for me.
