Les Mis was visually quite epic - I didn't think that Russel Crowe or Amanda Seyfried quite had the vocal chops that the rest did. Anna Karenina was bizarre but made a lot more sense after the credits rolled and I saw that it was screen written by Tom Stoppard. Oz was visually spectacular and I enjoyed it, although I can see why it's had the the feminist lash back that it has. Life of Pi was also visually amazing but I liked the book better as I felt it left the ending more open.<br /> I also saw Pitch Perfect and The Whistleblower while traveling and found them both compelling viewing for completely different reasons.<br /> My favourite recent film would have to be Argo.
