Yes, we've successfully prevented it from spreading a number of times!! We take activated charcoal, look it up! I swear by it!

@kitty: usually it's only during the initial coughing fit. Like she is super snotty and phlegmy, cough cough cough, projectile vomit once or twice. Then she cries and seems fine. It's happened like three times, always when she has a bad cold.

I feel like (hope) if you guys were going to get it, you'd have it by now. Our entire family came down with it in a matter of 4 hours. My mom took care of DD and had it the next day. I'm sure every virus has a different incubation period but I hope you're out of the woods.

@Foodnerd81: thanks for replying! when your baby threw up from gagging and coughing, was it just once after the initial coughing fit, or did they throw up again a little while later? DS will sometimes stop throwing up for ten minutes and then his stomach churns and he throws up a bit more. Just so unsure as to what is going on with him.

I'm not going to jinx myself by choosing usually only one person gets it, but we have managed to contain it (often it's onekid and one parent though). Tons of hand washing and lysoling doorknobs and light switches multiple times a day. But my baby definitely has thrown up from gagging and coughing on mucuous when there was no other bug happening. Super gross but at least it's not contagious. That does seem like a really long time to be vomiting, but not that long to have a bad cough.

Generally speaking, do you manage to prevent LO's tummy bug spreading to the rest of the family?

For context: LO has been vomiting (only at night) since Friday night and on Sunday the Dr said it was likely a type of gastro and should clear up soon. Now it's Wednesday and still every night he is vomiting. I've been cleaning like mad and washing hands constantly and it hasn't spread to me, DH or my MIL who lives with us. The Dr this morning said it might be related to a cough he has, so I'm trying to work out if the fact it hasn't spread to us is because it isn't gastro at all, and if generally gastro is harder to prevent spreading than this.
