He went to 3 different daycares and 2 different preschools in 3.5 years. A daycare in boston from 5-14 months...then a daycare part time in NM for 9 months....then another one for 2 months because the first closed. In Maine he went to one preschool for a little over a year....then we changed towns and he's been at another for a month. We plan to be here for a while so he'll be there until he starts K in 1.5 years. It's life. She did one center FT up until 2.25. Then we moved, so she did a new preschool in our new state from 2.5-3.25. Then we moved again, so another new preschool. I had to pick it somewhat blind (no personal references since I didn't know anyone where we were moving) and was late to the game since most schools enroll in January (we didn't know where we were moving until May). I ended up not really liking it that much, so I switched her to one that our neighbors go to after the holiday break. </p> <p>Phew. The first time was from a nanny to a center at 22 months - some tears but ok. The second was from the center to a church based preschool - no issues. We intend to switch him to a 2 year old's preschool program at a church in September. One week of bad drop offs, and she was fine. She just started a new prek program closer to home two weeks ago, and she had had zero problems and not a single tear shed. Adjusted beautifully. If we hadn't had too, I probably would've stayed with our original in-home as long as possible.<br /> That said, we LOVE our new in-home even more and once he was settled in the new daycare, he was fine. There were no tears at the switch (just at our back-up interim day-care - for some reason he didn't like it there!)<br /> If you're able to I'd maybe switch her gradually if you go that route, and just see how she does! In the long term it was a GREAT decision. Or is it really not that big of a deal, they will adjust? </p> <p>Did you switch out of necessity, like moving? Or by choice?</p> <p>We chose the more expensive center vs in-home last year for DD, but based on our financial situation, we might just have to switch her to the in-home if they still have a spot. Just something I possibly might have to put on the table as a possibility. </p>
