He's too young but we will definitely talk to him about it. What worries me is DH best friend. He's so against anything gay that he gets all worked up about it. And not in a good way.

He even said he would not accept it if one of his daughters was gay. So this topic coming up when Mavrick is older with DH best friend around scares me.

lol... when I read your post topics, @Mr. Bee, I always imagine that you are asking exactly what you're doing with Charlie at the moment. For instance, "does your LO show a strong preference towards you or your SO?" I immediately imagine you watching Charlie beg for mommy or you instead of the other. When I read this one, I imagined you talking to Charlie about gay marriage! :D and of course I imagined Charlie's very intently listening face.

One of the families at our daycare has two mommies, and we've run into them several times. They are so nice. Maybe because they recognize that we are fellow minorities (we are the only family of color in the school, they could be the only gay couple?). Haha. Or maybe they are just really nice people. Anyway, I definitely plan on talking to Wagon Jr. about it once he's old enough to understand. Until then, Foster has two mommies instead of a mommy and a daddy will do just fine. I'm sure this won't be his only friend with two mommies or two daddies!

LO is still too young to notice or care. I have a good friend who's gay, but she doesn't have kids yet. She's hoping to adopt an older child in the future. My best friend from grad school is also gay, but he also doesn't have kids yet. I guess I'll cross that bridge when we get there.

One of Charlie's friends at daycare has two mommies, as does one of his best friends down the street. It's really interesting to see how this doesn't strike Charlie as worth noting in any way.

It's great because the natural diversity of our neighborhood creates lots of teachable moments to casually mention to him that sometimes kids have two mommies (or daddies). We haven't had that convo yet... but now that I think about it, I'll make it a point to talk casually with him about how sometimes kids have two mommies (like his friends at daycare and down the street) and that it's not a big deal.

Do any of your LO's friends (or your LO) have two moms or dads? Have you talked to your LO about gay marriage?
