We took LO to Mexico at 8 weeks old, and we brought our infant seat (no stroller). We got this bag; http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009RNXNA/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

On the way there, we gate checked it, and on the way back, we checked it with our luggage. No issues either way!

I wore him in the K'Tan onto the plane. Actually, on the way there, I was walking and breastfeeding him at the same time as we boarded...

Depending on the destination, I've done with and without the stroller.

Without stroller, I wore DS in the Ergo and hand carried the car seat and gate checked it. I placed it in this gate check bag. Glad I did bc the bag got dirty!

With the stroller, I just push DS in the stroller with him in the infant carrier, then disassembled everything at the gate and put it in a gate check bag that accomodates both the stroller and infant carrier.

@Zbug: Ok, that's what we use for the convertible car seat and it does work well as a backpack. I just wasn't sure how well it would work for the infant seat. We don't have an attachment for the infant seat for our stroller. I plan to wear baby in the ergo (like yours, he didn't like it much at first but has come around). I want to bring both car seats and gate check baby's if necessary but DH wants to just check both of them. We'll see.

I've both gate and regular checked our infant seat. Before LO liked the ergo, I would use the infant seat and snap n go thru the airport (although I did put her in the ergo for security and when boarding the plane). I didn't use any kind of bag for it. I would just separate the seat and stroller at the gate and put both on the gate check cart. Neither have even been damaged. Now that she's happier in the ergo for long periods of time and we don't use the snap n go, I just check the infant seat. I use this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0009RNXNA/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1400772515&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40. There are cheaper options, but I like that this is a backpack bc I often travel alone with LO.

Taking a flight with our 2 kids (6 mos, 2 years) for the first time next week and having trouble figuring out the logistics. The baby would be fine in a convertible seat, we have 2 so bringing one for him would not be a problem. But it is really convenient to be able to carry him around in the infant carrier. If you travel with an infant car seat, what did you use to check or gate check it? I did go ahead and buy a second convertible car seat case that I guess we could put the infant seat into. I searched online and could not find any type of carrier specific to infant seats though, which surprised me.
