We went a year &amp; a half in new England without heat, but then the gas company was charging us anyway (they reserve the right to use estimated usages rather than actual meter readings when they for whatever reason haven't made it out to read our gas meter) so I turned it on, I'm paying for it! The heat's been on since Sept but not everything is on. We basically don't use any energy until winter.
