It was mostly situations like you described--parents going out and attending an event and needing someone to stay with their small child. They were usually already in bed or close to it and I stayed there with the child. Nothing weird ever happened, but in case it did I always had the number of the place where the parents were going (this was pre-cell phone), the number of the service, and the regular emergency contacts.</p> <p>Honestly, the worse thing that ever happened was a child that cried a bit after the parents left. I'd just suggest you have a few favorite books/toys/loveys for your child. Otherwise, enjoy the wedding! The wedding takes place on a yacht, and it leaves the dock at 6 p.m. and does not return until 10 p.m. My LO goes down for the night at 7 p.m., and my DH cannot attend, so my only option is a babysitter. </p> <p>The couple are not from the area they are getting married in, so nobody has any personal recommendations. If you have any experience using a sitter service, I'd love to hear it. I am not liking the option, but the only other one is to not attend the wedding, and I'm close to my cousin. </p>
