Mr. Chalk and I took the QM2 back from the UK when I was eighteen weeks pregnant. I think their cut-off was also 24 weeks; I brought a letter signed by my midwife stating that I was healthy and low-risk, but never submitted it. I wasn't really showing much at that point, so nobody ever questioned me.

You could always call the cruise line and ask about the medical facilities, particularly as it relates to pregnancy (if needed). Otherwise, if you're feeling good, I vote to go for it. :)

@rahlyrah: Yup. 24 weeks and 7 days, AKA 25 weeks. We got back when I was 24w5, so seriously cut it close!

@illumina: It is just a three day cruise to Mexico. Still, free cruise! I *think* I will be ok. I researched a little more after this thread and if I am understanding correctly, you just have to be under 25 weeks when you disembark. Since it is only a 3 day cruise, I will still be in week 24.

Thankyou everyone. This has really helped.

@cherrybee: We're going to book it last minute, for the same reason as you, will wait and see how I'm doing a few weeks before.

@rahlyrah: I hope that means you are still able to travel! Where does the cruise go to?

@mediagirl: That's what I was thinking! Bring on the afternoon tea & cakes each day!

We left it until 3.5 weeks before departure to book our babymoon just in case I had a complicated pregnancy or didn't feel well enough to travel but, at 18 weeks, I feel pretty good so we booked! I would definitely go on a cruise at 20 weeks into this pregnancy!

I'm so happy you made this thread! DH's company is sending everyone (and their spouses) on a free 3 day cruise on March 15. I had no idea you needed a waiver if you are pregnant. Now I am freaking out because I turn 24 weeks the day of departure. I wonder if the cruise line will say I can't go?!

The cruise should be fine, the only reason it might not be as entertaining because you will be limited in what excursions you can do. The best part of our cruise was snorkeling and climbing a waterfall, so that is something to look into which should help you narrow down where to go

I went at 24w. Carnival lets you cruise until 25w, so I barely made it under the wire! To be honest, I had a blast! There were plenty of food options so I wasn't limited if something didn't sound good. Full medical care was available if needed.
I'd say just make sure your doctor is okay with you going. Mine signed off on my paperwork with absolutely no hesitation.

I went on a cruise at 18 weeks. I had an easy pregnancy with no complications so my advice may not apply to a complicated pregnancy but I loved it! It was relaxing and so much fun!

I wouldn't, but for me I get severe migraines in early pregnancy and need to be near an er, and have had a previous miscarriage so it would make me nervous to go too far from home if something happened.

I got pregnant on a cruise ; )

The cruise line lets you on up to either 24 or 26 weeks so that's no problem. Before I had a baby I would have totally told you to go and have fun... Now, not so much. I had morning sickness until 20 weeks so being on a boat would have been brutal. I was in the ER at 15 weeks for dehydration from the stomach flu and again at 17 weeks because they thought my water broke (not to mention a few more times after the 20 week point). Who knows you may have a perfectly lovely complication free pregnancy and be fine to go. But you may not. And that's a lot of money to spend to end up either going and being miserable, or ending up not wanting to go at all.

I may be mistaken but I think cruise companies don't allow women who are prego on past a certain point for safety reasons.

Regardless, i think sometime early in a pregnancy would be nice :)

DH and I are trying to decide whether to go on a cruise in May. I'll be 19-20wks. Does anyone have experience with this? I guess I'm mostly concerned about feeling safe and comfortable and the medical facilities on board in case of emergency.. We've cruised a few times and I've not really experienced sea sickness apart from a few rough days at the end of our Hawaiian cruise last year. I just hope pregnancy won't make it any worse.
