@autumnlove: I'm nearly done with it and it's really good! Definitely put it on your list!

Ok, sorry it took me so long to get back to this...here are my answers.

1. I think Nelson is one of those easy-going guys, who one day just has enough and SNAPS. I think that Jaime probably has a lot to do with it...it seems like Nelson is being punished (by Jaime) for something he had no part of. It's like, Jaime would really love to have punished Henry, but since he wasn't available Nelson is the next best thing. I have a feeling Jaime is going to do something horrible, Nelson will just sit there and take it, and then snap on the next person he has a significant interaction with.

2. I'm way too naive about these things and tend to always tell the truth (even if it's not in my best interest). I think that Henry did the best he could to try to protect the memory of Rogelio, the love of his life, with his family (especially his mother) who obviously adore him.

3. On the one hand, I would have been too scared of Jaime to accept! On the other hand, I would have too scared of Jaime to not accept!!! Basically I think Jaime is a scary dude, and Nelson was probably screwed either way.

Hello! I hope that you've been able to read along even if you haven't had time to participate in the discussion. I'd love to hear your thoughts, though, if you have the time!

Part 2 of At Night We Walk in Circles takes place entirely in the village we only know of T____. This happens to be Rogelio's hometown, as well as the town that the narrator's parents hail from. After spontaneously changing the itinerary of the trip, the trio arrives and settles in. Henry decides to pay a visit to Rogelio's mom and sister. Tension arises when Henry talks about Rogelio's death in front of his senile mother and his sister who didn't know he was dead. After giving the best performance of the tour, Rogelio's brother Jaime arrives, and offers Nelson a role he can't refuse.

1. There was a bunch of foreshadowing in this section about what Nelson does later. He jokes about being a killer (in the play), the narrator talks about how Mindo (Ixta's boyfriend) didn't deserve what happened to him, etc. What do you think Nelson is capable of?

2. How would you have handled the situation Henry found himself in? How would you explain your relationship to Rogelio?

3. Would you have accepted Jaime's offer like Nelson did?

I'll post my answers later today, I'm in a bit of a rush this morning.

As a reminder, the rest of the reading schedule is as follows:
April 21: Part 3 (ch 16-19)
April 28: Parts 4 & 5 (ch 20-24)
