@T.H.O.U.: I think that's the way I am leaning. It's pretty much what I do now, but I will drop off DS in between our morning feed and pumping.

I'm sure you'll be fine either way, but in the morning I can do back to back pumps like that. I get less, but it's all good hindmilk. So if I got 8 oz at the 11:15 pump at 12:20 I would get maybe 4. I agree that trying a day of bottle feeding LO and attempting a pumping schedule is a great idea.

Could you shift your schedule just a tiny bit earlier so you drop off at 7 and then pump before school starts?

Looking at your schedule again if it were me I would probably just pump on your lunch break and pump longer than your normal. I have done 5 hrs apart at work and I just get more milk when I pump. Or if you have time at the 11:11 to pump for a good 20 min that could work too. If your boobs can handle it that would be easier on you too.

It would honestly be pointless for me to pump that close together. You may be different but even pumping 2.5 hrs apart doesn't really get me much. I need atleast 3-4 hrs to make a pump session "worth it". You will just have to see how your body manages. I pump every 4 hrs at work but I work 12 hr shifts. Sounds like yours is going to be tricky.

I'm also a teacher and so have the same issue, though my schedule rotates so sometimes I can pump first thing and other days not until lunch. Basically I pump before work if I'm not going to be able to pump until 11 or so, then do that pump and then pump again once I get home after I've fed her.

So I think you're fine to do your morning pump and midday. Definitely no need to do two pumps back to back. I would experiment about when to pump during your lunch/prep to see what gets you most output.

Sounds like you have an awesome supply though so I wouldn't worry too much about it, you'll figure it out quickly once you go back.

@simplyfelicity: I'm also a teacher and my schedule was pretty similar when I went back to work (at 9 months). To start I pumped morning and at the beginning of my prep (around 11) and then nurses right after school. Eventually I dropped the morning pump because I didn't really need it for long. It worked out fine for us.

@simplyfelicity: Do you want to do a trial run at home? See how much you get out if you do pump those 2 times at work? I know it's so annoying to figure out a schedule that works for you AND doesn't hurt your supply!

@snowjewelz: That's after 15 minutes. Maybe I will just pump longer in the morning and at work? I was hoping to feed him right before I go to work, but if I have to pump right after his morning feed, I am not sure how that would work out...I guess I could go to work earlier and pump then. Ugh...so many options!!

Does your LO feed on both sides? Right now I feed on one side and pump on the other first thing in the morning and during the last feed. That way I get around 8 oz from those two pumpings. I think 2 pump sessions during that tight a time frame isn't really possible.

For me:
7 am: feed + 1/2 pump (4 oz pumped)
11 am: pump (8 oz pumped)
4 pm: pump (8 oz pumped)
get home and feed normally
11 pm: feed + 1/2 pump (4 oz pumped)

ETA: just saw your recent comment - yes, just keep pumping after the first morning feed and pump once during the day

@simplyfelicity: Yes, I would do that. I always have milk left after J eats in the morning and my first pump is only 1.5 hours since he last ate and is still my biggest pump. Then pump once in your break time and you are good. (I feed at 7:30, pump at 9:00, 12:00, and 3:00, ready to feed him at 5:30) Good Luck!

@simplyfelicity: wow, you have amazing supply! Yeah, I feel like going 4 hr should be okay (since you have no choice). I think as long as you keep the frequency of pumping/feeding, then the stretch of time doesn't matter AS much (and you're only talking about +.5 or + 1 hr). How long do you pump for? Maybe if you can see when you get another letdown you can try to just pump longer to empty both breasts as much as possible?

@snowjewelz: I pump each morning after our first feed and get 8 ounces. Maybe I could keep doing that and only do one pump at work at 11:15? That would be 4 hours between drop off and pump and then 3.5 hours til I would be feeding DS.

Yeah I'm not sure you'll really get 2 pump session's worth if you pump that close together. Could you pump at night then? Seems like you really only need to make him 2 bottles. And depends on how much you can get per session.

@avivoca: Yeah, I know. I am a teacher and can't possibly pump until 11:11. My lunch and my prep period are back to back, so I don't go back to work until 12:47. That's why I was thinking about fitting two pumping sessions in there. Do you think I could get away with one?

Your pump times are really close together. How many bottles are you trying to cover for while you are gone? I had the best luck pumping at least three hours apart (feed at 7:00, pump at 10:30, pump at 2:30, feed at 6:00).

So, here is my proposed plan...
BF at 7:00am
Drop off at 7:10
Pump at 11:15
Pump at 12:20
Pick up DS at 2:45
BF by 3

It would be ideal to pump earlier but I can't take a break before then without really compromising my work.

Would this work?
