@knittylady: Luckily things seem to be back to normal for now. He still doesn't always nap well at daycare, but at home he seems to be doing pretty well. Fingers crossed!

Didn't see this thread originally but so happy to see it now! I was just going to start this thread myself...

@tlcbaby: Our LO's are the same age and for the past week or so D has been fighting his nap like crazy!! He ends up passing out in the car or stroller later in the day - or is cranky as all get out - or both when he skips. Really hoping it's a phase... How's it going with A now?

LO1 dropped his nap shortly after he turned 2. It was a bummer at first but worked well in the long run. Now that LO2 is approaching 2, I don't want him to drop his nap for a long time.

Keep trying! Naps for DS have been hit or miss since he turned 2. He's about to turn 3, and he only naps for us at home now. The days he does nap, it's for about 2 hours, but then he doesn't want to go to sleep for us at night easily. I'm fearing this is the end of our nap era!

My DD dropped her nap before 2. She napped kind of here and there after that, but never regularly again. That's not saying she didn't need them still, she just didn't do it. We ended up moving her bedtime and she started sleeping all her time at night.

my son tried to drop his naps when he turned 2 as well. I just kept pushing it. It was probably a 4 week phase. Awful! But now he's 2.5 and he still naps.

DD dropped her naps at just over 2 years old, much to my dismay :( I still think she needs a nap more often than not but she will not nap. I have let her try for over an hour and a half with no success. It was making me really mad and in turn she would feel like she was being punished and it was just horrible. So after trying for over a month I gave up. On days where she is really tired she will lay down and rest on the couch or sometimes she will fall asleep in the car.

Definitely keep trying. We have gone through a few phases where one or the other of mine refuses to nap but it only lasted a few (terrifying) days, then they have gone back to 2+ hours of napping. Just keep doing your usual routine, I bet he will go back to it soon!

DS is 2 and definitely still needs a nap! He could easily power through the day without one, but it'll totally jack up night time sleep. So when he refuses to go down for one, we'll put him in the car and not even a minute later, he's out! It's bad, I know, but it's the quickest way for us and we don't mind driving around the neighborhood for a minute then heading home.

@tlcbaby: If he isn't crying, just leave him! Also I have found if I tell my LO that we are going to do something after nap, it either takes her forever to fall asleep (which is normal for her) or she wakes up after an hour and is ready to go do whatever I said.

We went through a period around 2 where he wasn't napping well, but it passed and he is still napping for long periods at almost 3.5.

How long are you letting him stay in bed. I would keep E in bed for the whole duration of his expected nap (2 hrs for us). Sometimes it would take him 1.5 hrs to fall asleep. It kind of messes with the rest of the day, but no way was I giving up nap time.

Avery started part-time daycare a few weeks ago. He sometimes naps there and sometimes not, but we are working on it and he is at least falling asleep for a little while when he is there. At home, he has still been napping well, but for the past few days he just jumps in his bed and talks until I finally go get him. I try to give him plenty of time to fall asleep, but it ain't happening. I even told him we would go swimming if he took his nap.

This can't be the end of naps, right? Should I just keep trying?
