Well, my carseat goes into the stroller, so I couldn't use the head support for the stroller either. If it fits in your stroller I'd say it's probably okay.

so has anyone tried using these in something other than a car seat with success? I'll probably keep one for the stroller...but not sure which one might be better, or if they're both pointless to have.

we were given some head support gear as gifts but we left it unopened because I was advised not to use anything else except what came with the car seat. For optimum car seat safety its best not to use any other add ons.

@mrs. bird: is right about the aftermarket products for car seats.

We have the Chicco Keyfit and the head support it came with worked very well for us. That seat actually gets pretty good reviews for accommodating tiny babies very well!

My carseat also came with an infant insert, but her head still totally flops all over the place. I tried a head cushion thingy but it didn't fit in the carseat well so I just use two rolled up cloth diapers on either side of her head to hold it in place.

you could put one in your stroller. but you're not supposed to use any aftermarket products with the carseat because that's not how they are tested and they could impact the safety of the seat. so i'd just stick to the one that came with it. you could always return the others and get something else you need.

So we got our car seat last weekend as a shower gift, along with some other head support stuff. Now I am confused after looking at it more.

We got the Chicco KeyFit car seat, which has an infant insert. Do you use some other support with it? Is it optional? We also received one of these:
http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=18767902&

but I am not sure if it is supposed to be used with the insert or not.

We also have one of these: http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=18054680&

I guess I'll put it in the stroller? I have no idea what to do with this stuff...Ha!
