I'm only 5 weeks.... so this is all new to me.

I already have to take thyroid medication and something against severe gastritis... so I really don't want to take any more meds.... but I don't know how long I can take this anymore....

It partly feels like the worst hangover ever, but also like massive hammering and sometime even like a weird kind of migraine.... I also feel like I'm having a fever from time to time but the thermometer isn't showing any....

Yup, my OB has suggested Tylenol for any general aches and pains. I'm extremely headache prone outside of pregnancy, so I was worried about this before I got pregnant...but since I force so much water down every day I've actually only had 2 bad headaches so far this pregnancy.

Both times I took Tylenol immediately, because my headaches get much worse if I don't treat them quickly.

Tylenol as needed. My OB said it was fine as long as I followed the dosing guidelines

Most of my headaches are just dehydration. I've needed to drink alot more water whilst pregnant, but that seems to sort them out. Fortunately I haven't had to take any medication in over 5mths.

I was going to suggest the ice pack on your neck and laying down, plus drinking lots of water. But if you are going on day three and it's no better, maybe you should ask your doctor?

It also depends what type of headache-- for tension, maybe a neck and shoulder massage would help? For sinus, a very hot washcloth over my face helped-- I would breath through it until it cooled and put more hot water on it. Acupuncture helped me, but it took a while to help (like, weeks, not days) so you probably want something that will help sooner!

@lil owl: how far along are you? My midwife also said they could give me codeine if it was reaaaaaaaaaally bad (I am in the second tri). If a little caffeine + tylenol doesn't work, I'd call your doc.

@lil owl: I'm on day 2 of a nasty headache. I've done ice to my neck and heat to my face with no luck. I did end up drinking about 8oz of dr pepper and it helped a little, thanks to @Mrs. Js suggestion to me earlier.

I hope you feel better soon!

What sort of headache is it? If its a tension headache, I would try a heating pad on low, applied to the back of your neck/head. If its a sinus headache, I would talk to my health provider about what you can take.

A bit of caffeine also helps sometimes.

I take tylenol as needed. I get really awful tension headaches, and my doctor ended up prescribing a stronger med that I didn't feel comfortable taking frequently, so I ended up at PT, which helped quite a bit. I also found staying very well hydrated helps.

a cool, damp rag and a nap works best. I try not to take Tylenol. A little caffeine helps too. My midwife says in the second tri, ibuprofen is ok if I really need it, but again I try not to take anything. She also said try to put the cold rag at the base of your neck and apply pressure.
