@MrsSCB: I used to have amazing insurance coverage, 100% frames & lenses, and a 20% discount on contacts. I have a pair of Prada frames that I've had for 6 years and I keep getting new lenses put in them. After I had Chloe, I changed things up and got a new pair that I paid out of pocket for, and she snapped those in half. I'm glad I had my back up pair!

Now Charlotte is around that age and getting grabby, and our insurance coverage blows on glasses. I wear mine all the time, so I want something I won't feel sick about if they break.

$95 isn't going to make me cry. And I still want a back up pair, so my trusty Prada's that are 6 years old will still get new lenses put in them. Christ. That lady really didn't need to be such a bitch to me. They're still getting my business. I'll still buy glasses through them, just not today. Wait until my kid isn't the 'break everything nice I own in half" age.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I felt the same way -- umm, if my glasses are gonna break I'd rather them be under $100 than $400...but I think that was just her snarky way of trying to discredit WP because my first pair lasted really well and I was not too kind to them. My cats knocked them on the floor and batted them around more than a few times, too haha. I've been really happy with WP so I hope your headaches go away so you can enjoy them! Oh, and I ended up taking my new ones to a different, non-chain glasses store in the mall and the guy there was very nice and adjusted them for free. That's how you should treat customers, or people you hope will become customers! :-)

The woman you dealt with sounds like a real peach. Treating someone like crap is a great way to get her to switch to your services, right? Ridiculous!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Still, that's all part of the script, IMO, b/c you need it to order glasses!

And yes, super duper rude. Huge pet peeve of mine is people just being inconsiderate assholes in general. If it's not obvious ;)

@blackbird: They gave me the script no problem - apparently the FDA requires it? - but didn't include the PD. I was surprised at how rude the staff was. I mean, I get it, I didn't order from them. It would be like someone ordering wedding invitations from someone on Etsy then asking me to print for them - I could, since I order through my own printer, but I didn't design them, so I wouldn't. But I also wouldn't be a dick about it.

The refractive index of your glasses can DEFINITELY give you a headache. I'm a +1.50 and cheap glasses give me headaches, but the expensive ones don't. if it's a new prescription for you, can you try wearing it in small amounts? When i started wearing reading glasses, I couldn't wear them all day.

It's most likely due to the change in prescription. See if you can tough it out for a few days, and eventually your eyes will get used to the new glasses. I even feel like that a bit when I switch from glasses to contacts. Your eyes get so used to one thing and don't adjust quickly when you change things up on them.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Do you have a high prescription? The higher the prescription, the more important that curved lens is going to be. I've been considering getting some glasses from WP, but my prescription is -11 and I would deeeefinitely need thinned out and curved lenses or I would get really sick/dizzy. I hope their customer service can help you out!!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: When a toddler calls you out... Yeah.

I would contact warby Parker. See what they suggest. I had an issue with prescription sunglasses and I'm only realizing years later that I should have had them checked because they killed me. I need an updated Rx so there's no point now but next time, I'm checking with everyone to make sure they're right.

Ditto to having headaches when my script changed. It was horrible, but I was assured it would get better. I toughed it out for about a week and then it was fine! I love WP—just about to order a new pair from them...as soon as I can stop being so indecisive and pick which one I like already! I have to send my box back tomorrow :(

@Raindrop: YES TO THE BRIGHTNESS. I tolde husband I felt like I was seeing things in HD! What in the world! I haven't had a new script in 2 or 3 years and my prescription change isn't very drastic but my goodness, what a huge difference it's making! It's definitely much more clear and so much brighter.

@MrsSCB: I have a 30 day window, so I'll give it some time. I'm so in love with these frames! For $95, if these break, I won't be so sad. Chloe broke my last $$$ pair and that really sucked. I purposefully wanted these because Charlotte is starting to get grabby and I didn't want her to break expensive frames, especially since our insurance coverage blows.

Ii started getting the lenses changed in my glasses after Chloe broke my last new pair. Then I realized that I've had those glasses for six years. It's time for a change!

My new optometrist is nice, it's her staff that sucks. This lady in particular was nasty. She treated me like I was looking for a handout & wouldn't even write down my measurements for me when there was a own right in front of her (she said "well, I don't have a pen so you'll have to try to remember your PD....."). I finally said, "listen, I'm not looking for something for nothing. My insurance doesn't cover anything but a 20% discount and your frames are all in the $400 range. I've got two small children and home and my last pair of expensive glasses ended up cracked in half by my then six month old. It's Christmas, I'm a stay at home mom, and I figure if my glasses are going to break I'd rather lose $95 than $400. I need contacts, I want my lenses replaced in my other frames, but I also wanted a new, cheap pair of glasses to wear around the house, so I'd like to make sure the script is correct in these."

She told me that their prices are comparable and competitive and you can't get their quality customer service anywhere. Chloe was with me and told her she wasn't very nice :silly: the lady wouldn't talk to me about lenses, and we left.

Biiiiitch

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I was gonna say it might be the prescription change as well!

Also, so crazy how other places are so sensitive about Warby Parker (I'm sure because they're so much cheaper). I just got my second pair of glasses from them and went to get them adjusted. The person I spoke with says, "oh we're not allowed to adjust Warby Parker glasses because they break so easily." Uhhh, ok, sure... My first pair seemed pretty durable for almost three years ;-)

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Oh yes I think it's the script change!! The same thing happened to me!

It took I think a week for my eyes to get use to the stronger prescription.

Everything was just soooo clear... my eyes were so not use to everything being so crisp and everything seemed so much brighter too. I seriously couldn't wear my glasses for more than a few hours at a time for the first few days... but slowly it got better and better... and I actually liked the crispiness. :)

If you can ... I would say hold out for a week before changing your lens... unless you have a return policy deadline.

I would ask Warby Parker. Their customer service is top notch. And they have optometrists or something on site too - they do exams in NYC I know. I'm wondering if they can shed some insight on things? That stinks that your doctor was a douche about it though.

Help! I'm having a problem with my new warby parker glasses & am having an even harder time articulating this issue.

My insurance only covers 20% on glasses, so I thought I'd give warby parker a shot. I fell in love with a pair of frames and had them fill my script.

But, they make me sick. I put my glasses on and am instantly sick. I strain to see, feel dizzy, my eyes can't focus, and I get nauseated.

I've had two eye centers check the prescription and PD for me and it's correct. My optometrist wasnt very helpful or friendly since they didn't fill the script.

I stopped by a chain store tonight and a very friendly girl pointed out that my current glasses have a curved lens while the WP have a flat lens, and this could be the culprit! I forgot what the different lenses are classed, though.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Should I ask WP for new lenses? I think I might be back to square one and need to pick out new frames locally!
