Don't feel like a wimp! I did not mean to belittle your experience - just trying to say I know how scary they can end up and you therefore have my sympathy... And that I tried EVERYTHING I could to stop the blasted things. I ended up taking something for my last one (few hours before I posted here), despite TTC, my justification being that I'm not past ovulation yet. I can't imagine having regular migraines during pregnancy.

Thanks everyone for your experiences and suggestions. I'm feeling like a bit of a whimp considering what some of you have gone through. I'm lucky that its not a daily occurance, but I'm concerned that they're happening more frequently.

As for triggers, I never really considered foods. I've been trying to pound the water in case its related to dehydration, but now that you mention chocolate.... with Halloween and my SIL bring by Hershey kisses last weekend I've definitely been having more chocolate than usual.

I'll try eliminating that and if all else fails try some of your techniques! I'm really not into the idea of taking too many meds. I've tried a tylenol here and there but like you guys, it doesn't really touch it.

Thank you!! And I'm sorry you guys had to endure such a rough time with them :(

Oh yeah. I've had consistent headaches for over a week now. They appeared out of nowhere. I had a Tylenol for one of them earlier this week but it didn't touch it. I just waited until work was done, went home and put a pillow over my head. Sorry you're having a tough time with them!

Hmmm... I had lots of migraines when I was pregnant (and when I wasn't) and there's not a ton you can do about it. But I'll just tell you what my doctors told me.

My OB told me you can take Imitrex. She said she took it herself when she was preggo. But my neurologist said it was a no no, so I chose not to take it just in case.

Everyone of course said yes to Tylenol, but not too much. It can cause rebounds, and it can cause your baby to become addicted. That's something I didn't know before. Also, you can get tylenol with caffeine in it.

Do you know what your triggers are? A lot of the time for me it was the weather, so if there was some sort of front coming in I could take a benedryl and that would help a lot. Obviously if light and noise bothers you stay away from that if you can. I used to keep the lights off in my office... my coworkers thought I was crazy but it was necessary! Foods can also be a big trigger, like chocolate.

I ended up getting a membership to a massage place which was great. Not only did I get a prenatal massage once or twice a month, but I'm still a member so I'm *forced* to keep going now that I have the baby. Something I wouldn't do otherwise, but really do need.

The only other things I can think of are heating pads (of course not for long periods of time and not too hot), I use a peppermint oil that's pretty strong and sometimes does the trick.

Migraines during pregnancy suck! Many doctors just said that I had to suffer. They had no advice what so ever. I was like really, what do your other patients do? Pregnant women get migraines, I know it! I ended up in the ER every other weekend for my whole first trimester, it was awful. But the third trimester was great, they went away completely.

Hope you start feeling better soon too!

As someone who has migraines, cluster headaches (though not for over a year now, thank GOD!), and sinus headaches... Nnnnngh. Heavy-duty pain killers brought the cluster headaches down to severe migraine levels, but they made me hallucinate. I'm to the point in my pain tolerance where I don't bother taking anything until I'm puking.

And sadly, I haven't found a med that helps that are also safe while pregnant. Tylenol (which is pregnancy safe) doesn't touch my migraines, regardless of the strength. You might try paracetamol

Hot water of any kind (shower, tea, etc), seeking dark, quiet places (turning down monitor brightness, wearing headphones, that sort of thing while at work, and retreating to the bedroom with covers over my head at home), and sleeping it off help (I know, it's almost impossible to stay asleep, but the near-sleep rest helps.) Snuggling my cat also helps, at least to distract me from the pain. I hear that head/neck/shoulder massages help with migraines, but I can't stand to be touched during migraines.

Lately I've been getting terrible headaches, possibly migraines. They typically seem to be in the evenings and seem to flare up due to light sensitivity.

Last week I had one so bad I was physically sick so I talked to my OB about it and she went off on a tangent about mucous and sinus pressure during pregnancy, and taking antihistamines blah, blah. When I explained it definitely wasn't that, she didn't have much to offer other than suggesting Tylenol with some caffeine. I find it doesn't really do too much and I'm better off to just lie down in the dark and sleep it off.

Is anyone else experiencing anything like this? Do you have any suggestions?
