@adira that's what I'm hoping for I think! To adjust to needing less sleep! :)

@cmomma17: Glad to hear your first day went okay!! And that's such a bummer about your boss. She definitely sounds like she has NOOOOOO clue when it comes to breastfeeding and pumping. What a bummer! I was worried my boss might be like that (because he's a guy), but he has four kids, so he was pretty understanding.

And I totally hear you on being tired! It's so hard to get up early, nurse a baby, get ready for work, go to work, pump throughout the day, go home and take care of said baby, and then have to do it all over again the next day. Though it DOES get easier. I'm getting used to living on less sleep I think, haha.

@adira my office is small. Just me, my boss, and one other person. I fully expect grief from my boss. She's single, has no kids, no pets, no family nearby and is all about career above all else. She had me work 19 days in a row with no break TWICE while pregnant! When I mentioned me need to pump she suggested just doing it on my lunch break so she's not very informed.

My first day went okay! It was a little boring because my boss was too busy to give me any work! I did have 250 emails to go through! It was nice seeing work friends and showing pics of the baby too. I'm stressed about pumping long term but hopefully I get in a good routine. My mom did well with the baby and I loved giving him lots of kisses at lunch and after work. :)
DH has his first day with LO today, wish him luck!!! He already asked his mom to,come help for an hour so he can "get stuff done."

And can I just say I am SO TIRED!?!?!!! How do moms do this? I feel asleep sitting up at 8 pm last night, with LO asleep in my lap! We were both in bed by 9 pm (and skipped bath and bedtime routine, bad mommy!).

and knowing that family is taking care of your little one is comforting

@cmomma17: Sorry to hear your boss is rough! How big is your office? Will she give you any grief about pumping? I hope everything goes smoothly for you! My first day back, just catching up on everything made the day FLY by, which was soooooo nice. And when you're reunited with your baby after being away from them all day - it's the best feeling in the world!

Thanks ladies! I leave for work in about 30 minutes. My coffee has already worn off and I'm ready to go back to bed (not that LO would let me!). ;)
I appreciate the support. Hopefully it's a good day and week. I have a difficult boss so I'm nervous about what she'll be like! The ten week break from her was soooo nice.

Good luck today!! The first few days are rough, but every day it gets easier! And the people taking care of your son will soon learn all his cues for when he's hungry or tired, so try not to worry! You're lucky that your family will be able to watch him - that makes it easier I think.

Good luck today!!

It's awesome that your LO will be with family. I have a similar set-up where a family member watches my little guy, and it has made all the difference to me. Like @T.H.O.U said, they love him and have his best interest at heart, even they don't do things exactly like you do...and if it gives you hope at all, my son naps so much better now than he did before!

I know for me, the first day FLEW by and I was back with my son before I knew it!

hope today goes well! it's hard to leave LO, but it's wonderful that he will be with family. i was a total control freak at that stage, but a silver lining was that since i had to put LO in other people's care, i gradually let go a bit and realized that things would still be okay even if they weren't done my way--it was a bit liberating!

Tomorrow is my first day back to work after 10 weeks of maternity leave. :( My son seems so little and I'm sad to leave him. :( Before I became a mom I thought I would be the type of person who was itching to get back to work after a few weeks but I was wrong! I cried a lot on Thursday, but have held it together pretty well since then.
I am very lucky in that my baby will be with either my husband, mom, or mom in law every day that I work. Very very lucky. But I'm still sad. :(
Doesn't help that I really dislike my stressful job and difficult/mean boss. :( I also think I'm a bit of a control freak because most of my worries are about people doing things differently with the baby (will they read to him? Sing? Do tummy time? Recognize when he's tired? Etc.)
I'm also going to be pumping at work but that's a whole other post! I will miss nursing my son so often, I enjoy the bonding aspect so much.
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest! Wish me luck for my first day back, I feel like I won't sleep well tonight!
