He had been scratching his leg with the edge of a knife he found in a box (which is gross enough). We caught it fairly early, the doctor drew a circle around it, gave him a cream and antibiotics and told us to go the ER for IV antibiotics if the redness extended past the circle in the next 48 hours. When he was home, I made him wrap his leg in an ace bandage, and once the 48 hours were up I washed his pants, towels, sheets, and underwear on hot. I also wiped down the mattress with a Lysol wipe.</p> <p>We washed our hands religiously, especially after he cleaned the area/put on more cream. They also did a blood test for Lyme. He went to the doctor right away and they gave him the one-time super strong dose of doxy but didn't do any follow-up.
