When I'm dieting I make sure I have steam broccoli in the fridge at all times. I really like broccoli though with a pinch of salt. Yum! Haha.

Other than that, I tend to carry a protein bar (or two) with me at all time so I don't get tempted to buy snacks or get a high calorie coffee drink.

Greek Yogurt! I like Oikos triple zero in strawberry. Lots of fiber and protein with little (though some) carbs/sugar.

Popcorn and no sugar added applesauce are also winners in my house.

I find the low calorie stuff really doesn't fill me up and has a bunch of additives anyway. I have an apple with almond butter or a hard-boiled egg. Sometimes Greek yogurt with granola on it. That helps with my hunger!

Costco often, although not always, sells individual portioned hummus and guacamole cups. When I see them, I buy 2-3 boxes and freeze them in my chest freezer. My husband takes baby carrots and one of those hummus cups in his lunch just about every day or grabs them as a snack at home.

My Costco also sells Babybel Light cheese and 24-packs of hard boiled organic eggs (in packs of 2). They also sell Laughing Cow cheese, which is a softer low-calorie spreadable cheese that you can spread on celery sticks.

We have an air-popper for popcorn - I just make a big bowl, spritz it with olive oil spray and salt, and share it with DS and DH. If you want it to taste a little cheesier, you can sprinkle nutritional yeast flakes on it.

Sometimes I make myself a hot cup of broth spiked with salt and pepper and some hot sauce and sip it from a mug. Sometimes you just want something savory instead of sweet and its nice. Sometimes I mix it up with miso soup instead or a can of V8 juice.

You can make little antipasto kits - like 2 or 3 olives, a Babybel, a few slices of turkey pepperoni or salami, and some cornichon pickles. It could be rounded up with some raw veggies for a bigger snack, or you can add hardboiled eggs to make it a meal.

So sorry for not replying earlier and digging up this old old thread!

First of all, thank you everyone for the suggestions!

@Mrs. Oatmeal: I need to look into low calorie single serve hummus containers! That is a great suggestion - I kept hearing hummus is actually very high calorie so I have been avoiding it.

@Mamaof2: Thank you so much! What am I to do without you??? I actually bought some babybel cheese after reading your suggestions and I ate them for a few of the snack times! I know there are 50 calorie versions I just need to find them....

I have been slipping on carbs + calories these few days and I am bulging a bit back which freaks me out! I am determine to really watch/eliminate my carb intake. Somehow I came across this - where you put 1-2 tbs of peanut butter and spread it across a long stalk of celery, cut it into pieces and separate it into two snacks, one for morning and one for night. 2 tbs of peanut butter is about 200 calories so separating them into two halves would be a snack for roughly 100 calories each! Some people may put whole almonds on top of the peanut butter which adds a kick to the protein. I like how this protein snack has no carbs in it and it fulfils my sweet tooth. I don't have celery at home and I tried it with romaine lettuce leaves today, which is just as good.

I am also going to try to snack on hard boiled eggs!

Other than that, I was making my own "soda cocktail" these past few days where I put bite size oranges (from 1/2 an orange or less) and maybe 2 tbs of pomegranate seeds into sparkling water + ice. I am also making hot tea with 2 slices of lemon and maybe a tiny dash of honey.

Any other wise thoughts?

@Mamaof2: I second the Babybel cheese. I buy a big bag of them at Costco, so I don't run out. I also like bananas, hummus and veggies and homemade smoothies

I don't eat them but my kids love the chocolate mini rice cakes.

almonds are good

If I am home 1/2 an apple and a babybel cheese is a great snack!

SkinnyPop is delicious! I could eat a whole bag, though that defeats the low-cal purpose!
I keep cut up veggies in the fridge so I can grab them quickly- you can also buy single serve hummus containers to go with them. I also like the Crispy Minis chips- they're rice cakes but a lot thinner so they look and taste like tortilla chips.

Any of you have any good "go to" snack suggestions that you munch on while they don't carry a ton of calories?

For me my absolute favorite was the Fiber One 90 calorie chewy bars, chocolate favored. You can't beat 90 calories and the bar is of good size, and it just taste oh so good! I also love their 90 calorie chocolate brownies.

I also learn from another thread topic about the smartpop! 94% fat free popcorn. Those are actually very good and 1 cup is only 15 calories. The whole bag is about.... 105 calories? (It allegedly makes 6.5 cups @ bag)

Any other suggestions?
