@regberadaisy: it took about an hour, but my LO referred on both ears, so maybe it'll be much quicker for you. I took the boppy and nursed him the whole time. It's painless, but everybody has I be pretty still for quite awhile, so having the boppy was wonderful.

ETA - if the left ear comes back with hearing loss, I'd insist on a retest of the right ear too, the screening equipment is not as good as the equipment used in follow up, particularly if you are going to an audiologist.

@regberadaisy: we had to do this (and I work in a hearing clinic). She failed both ears in the hospital. She was drowsy, but not sleeping for the test. If your LO is awake (doesn't fall asleep on the car ride over), they may let you nurse. They just need to get a good seal on the ear, so sleeping works best.

Thy didn't repeat in the hospital?

Charlotte failed her left ear, and the tech came back an hour later. I actually nursed her when she did the test!

LO 2 failed her hearing test in the left ear at the hospital. So we have to take her next week . They said she has to be nice and tired and ready to sleep. Um yeah. Because like I can control an infant's sleep habits. Lol

Anyone been to one? Any tips on making sure she's sleepy and what to expect? Thanks!
