LO turns two this week, has tubes, and has had a lot of hearing testing over the past year and a half. He was in the NICU for an extended period of time and has other risk factors for hearing loss so our state requires hearing screenings every six months. He failed basic screenings so we did an ABR and a sedated ABR. If you can, try to see a pediatric audiologist. It won't hurt to go for some initial testing (all very easy and quick) and hopefully you won't need any additional testing!!

I don't have any personal experience. But I have one friend who's daughter was way behind in speech until they did tubes around 3 years old.

I also have another friend whose daughter has a congenital defect with one of her ears and has partial hearing loss. They do tons of signing with her and she also has a BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid). She's a little under 2 and doing great.

Not personally, but one of my nephews was a very late talker. He had to get tubes in his ears when he was around 3 (his parents were a little in denial about it, I think?) and his speech started exploding soon after.

Declans speech therapist recommended going to see a specialist over some concerns we are having with him. He is 20 months (he has always been notoriously quiet)and hardly talks and we are wondering if he is having a hard time hearing everything we are saying.

Any experiences with hearing loss? I would love tp hear your experience.
